A massive thank you to the nearly 100 people who joined us for our Hardtech Innovators Meetup! It was fantastic to connect with all of you, hear about the journeys of our incredible speakers, and enjoy great food and drinks together. Insightful quotes from our speakers: ?? "Québec is at the top at many levels. It’s the moment to make here." ??"You do not need astronomical sums of money to create an incredible manufacturing industry—just start making things." ???? The impact of US tariffs : "This is genuinely disastrous for Canada if it happens—but we are moving fast to adapt and protect our industry." Now more than ever, it’s critical to recognize the strength of Québec’s manufacturing sector. Instead of looking abroad, businesses have an opportunity to tap into the expertise, talent, and infrastructure that already exist right here. Many companies are proving that world-class products can be built locally, reducing reliance on uncertain global supply chains. By prioritizing Québec manufacturers, we can drive innovation, create jobs, and build a more resilient industry. ???? Thanks to our amazing panelists ?Katherine Homuth, Nick Saltarelli, Sophie Roy, Pierre-Edouard G., and moderator Julie White ! A special thanks to EY and Startupfest for supporting our event. To all the hardtech innovators who came out, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Stay tuned for updates on future events and opportunities by subscribing to our newsletter here:https://lnkd.in/dQkR2Bqh

BIG announcement, #HardtechFest will be back in 2025, at Startupfest. The announcement was made yesterday, our Hardtech Innovators Meetup, in the presence of Philippe Telio and Laurence Audette-Lagueux, and of course our community of hardtech innovators. ?? This year’s theme, "The World Is Not Enough," is both an aspiration and a reflection speaking to the bold pursuit of space as humanity’s next frontier, but also to the urgent need to harness innovation for the protection and regeneration of our own planet. As we advance beyond Earth, reducing the cost of space exploration, unlocking new materials, and reshaping industries, how do we ensure that these breakthroughs don’t just expand our reach but also sustain the planet that made them possible? In 2025, HardtechFest challenges you to rethink the limits of manufacturing, technology, and sustainability. From space-based production and planetary defense to resource utilization that benefits both on- and off-world economies, the future is no longer bound by Earth’s constraints. The horizon is just the beginning. ?? Want to be part of this mission? We’re looking for visionary partners and sponsors to help shape the conversation and drive real impact. If you’re ready to push the boundaries of hardtech innovation, let’s talk: [email protected] ??? Grab your tickets here to join us in our labor of love during this year’s Startupfest! This third Hardtech Innovators Meetup tomorrow, February 12th, feels extra special for one important reason: we are welcoming Startupfest as a partner! For more than ten years now, Startupfest has been recognized as THE grassroots startup event in Quebec, even across Canada. This partnership is a natural fit as we share the same values and vision for the future of Québec’s hardtech ecosystem, and together, we’re driving its growth. ?? Our Hardtech Innovators Meetups are designed to bring the hardtech community together and strengthen it. Just as Startupfest has been doing for years, we are glad that they are supporting our initiative for its third installment and for the upcoming ones. Because, yes, there will be more HIM in 2025! A huge thank you to Philippe Telio and Will Stephenson, as well as the entire Startupfest team, for your trust and support. ??? By the way, there are still some tickets left.? Don’t miss out. We’re proud to announce our final keynote speaker for our upcoming Hardtech Innovators Meetup: From Micro-Series to Mass Production. Meet Sophie Roy, with 15 years of experience spanning entrepreneurship, consulting and investment. She was a pivotal member of Oatbox, where she helped grow the company from a startup to a national brand and ingredient provider. Initially leading the B2C growth strategy, she received the 2019 Canada Post E-commerce Innovation Award and was named to Infopresse's 2020 '30 Under 30'. As the business expanded into retail, she led the efforts taking Oatbox to grocery stores nationwide, and won the Claudine and Stephen Bronfman Emerging Entrepreneur Award. As COO, she took on Oatbox’s biggest challenges: she oversaw the transition to manufacturing by building a liquid oat base plant, she developed two oat milks (which are now sold in 26 Costco warehouses and hundreds of coffee shops and grocery stores) that won the Beverage Innovation Award from the Conseil de la Transformation Alimentaire du Québec (CTAQ). Additionally, she played a central role in Oatbox’s financing rounds. Her journey has provided her with experience in leading and scaling the operations of a company, coupled with deep understanding of managing cross-functional teams, including navigating the transition from a B2C subscription model to a hybrid retail approach and fostering a strong sense of purpose and community within her team. She recently joined eighty2i, a consulting firm offering "founder-as-a-service" model, where she assists startups in their capital raise and acts as a fractional COO to create strategic alignment and growth within organizations. ???Register Here,?to hear directly from Sophie : //https://lnkd.in/efy9c4ph ???
