We are happy to share that last Thursday we officially initiated 27 new members into the Gamma Iota Sigma - Alpha Chapter family! The newly initiated Iota class has demonstrated their strong commitment to our core values of teamwork, integrity, excellence, diversity, and service. Here are a few highlights from our incredible new member class: - Underwent a rigorous semester-long professional development curriculum - Met and connected with most if not all the members of the Alpha Chapter - Raised a combined total of ~$640 for the Orchid Endowment Fund through a dodgeball tournament and bake sale They have been nothing short of excellent and committed to our mission and goals. Earlier this month the Fisher Futures Investment Banking Program recruitment cycle for the Autumn 2024 semester concluded, and we are happy to share that five of our outstanding members were selected into the latest cohort of 35 students. The Fisher Futures Program is a highly competitive, faculty-selected program that educates students in investment banking, financial modeling, and business valuation. This program also gives participants the opportunity to connect with alumni in the industry, while taking them on site visits to multiple firms in New York and Chicago. These five students are our latest example of our commitment to pursuing excellence and hard work. There are many more members like them in our group that are willing and capable to aim for the top. I am honored to say that I was awarded the Future Fisher Leader by The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business and I am deeply grateful for this recognition. As I reflect upon my first year at The Ohio State University, I am filled with so much gratitude for the invaluable experiences, lessons, and connections that have shaped my journey. Upon my arrival on campus, one of my biggest fears was not being able to find a community. However, I am grateful to say that my fears were almost immediately dissipated, all thanks to the incredible individuals and wonderful student organizations that have become integral to my collegiate experience thus far. My involvement with organizations such as Gamma Iota Sigma - Alpha Chapter & Buckeye Ventures has granted me opportunities for both personal and professional growth alongside but a platform to positively impact others. I am so privileged to have collaborated with such dedicated peers, but I would be remised if I did not mention Manuel Goyonaga-Zambrana & Dylen Jacob, whose guidance and kindness have been instrumental in my development. Moreover, my affiliation with Students Consulting for Non Profit Organizations - Ohio State specifically has been indescribably transformative. My involvement with SCNO has reinforced my passion for service and my commitment to lifelong learning. I wish to extend my appreciation to Darshita Bajoria and John Piehowicz, whose exemplary leadership and passion has served as an example of what I strive for. As I contemplate the milestones of my first year, I am reminded of the importance of embracing opportunities, fostering meaningful connections, and contributing positively to the community. Looking forward, I am excited to continue serving the Fisher College of Business, Ohio State & greater Columbus communities through being the Site Coordinator for Fisher Impact Day 2024. I am excited for what the future will bring me, and like I always say at the end of my tours: Go Bucks forever & always! ??

One of the best parts of my job at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business is working with such hardworking and dedicated student leaders of our 38 Fisher recognized student organizations. This year, after several years of not hosting our awards, I was extremely excited to bring back an award event to celebrate the amazing things our student organizations achieve. I was extremely blown away by the number of nominations we received as well the incredible student organizations and student leaders that were nominated. Today at the Fisher Student Organization Awards of The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, Gamma Iota Sigma had plenty to be proud of. We won the “Strongest Growth Within An Organization” award, and multiple of our members represented us well! Huge congratulations to: - Grace Min, our Vice President of Marketing, for winning the “Future Fisher Leader” award - Jack Leininger, one of our new members, and The Logistics Association for winning the “Best Program Of The Year” award We are extremely proud of our amazing members and their accomplishments. We had the privilege of having two wonderful speakers & come in to talk to us during chapter during the past 2 weeks! Last week, we hosted Melinda Gloriosa of Rev1 Ventures who provided us insight into the venture capital industry & her own career experiences. This week, we heard from Kay Smith, CCPEC of The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business who taught us about psychological safety & how to cultivate it in our own lives. We are so grateful to have heard from both of these incredible individuals & look forward to our future speakers!

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership between our chapter and the Orchid Endowment Fund, an initiative led by our esteemed alumni and former Treasurer, Chase Smith. Having already raised over $20,000, the fund aids single mothers battling cancer with financial support for unexpected costs. This collaboration highlights the enduring impact of our alumni and our commitment to making a positive difference in the community. Here are the areas our volunteers will be focusing on: - Portfolio Construction and Analysis - Marketing - Operations Strategy and Grant Recipient Search This partnership represents a unique opportunity for our fraternity members to apply their skills in real-world scenarios, contributing to the Orchid Endowment Fund's noble cause. Together, we aim to enhance the fund in any way that we can by providing our unwavering support and business experience. We would like to extend our gratitude to Chase Smith for believing in our potential to contribute, and we are excited about the difference we can make together!

The Risk Institute co-hosted the inaugural Student Risk Management Day last weekend at Nationwide Arena with the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Insurance and Risk Management Academy (IRMA) from Ohio Dominican University. At this unique event, students from The Ohio State University and several other Ohio colleges and universities (including the majority of our Gamma Iota Sigma - Alpha Chapter!) heard from a panel of risk professionals from prominent central Ohio companies, toured our city's NHL arena, and participated in a career fair before joining for dinner and the CBJ vs. Tampa Bay hockey game! We love hosting events where students get the chance to hear from and interact with risk leaders and learn more about the vast array of career opportunities in and around the risk field.
