Celine leverages her business and finance background alongside her legal expertise to deliver an analytical and strategic approach to problem-solving, enhancing legal representation for developers, syndicators, lenders and investors, and ensuring sophisticated, solution-oriented counsel tailored to the complexities of the industry. Celine earned her J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, graduating cum laude in 2023. During law school, she was the Managing Editor of the Maryland Law Review, worked with startups and local businesses as a student attorney, and received several prestigious awards, including the William P. Cunningham Award for her exceptional achievements and service to the law school. Outside of her legal practice, Celine is committed to advocating for women’s rights and access to justice. Celine is an active member of The Women's Law Center of Maryland, where she serves on the board and is the Vice Chair of the Judicial Selections Committee, and volunteers with the Tahirih Justice Center, where she provides pro bono legal representation to immigrant survivors of gender-based violence. When she’s not at work, Celine and her rescue beagle can be found exploring Baltimore’s neighborhoods, sampling new restaurants, and recreating delicious dishes at home. A true Georgia Bulldogs fan, she always enjoys cheering on her alma mater! Continuing our #WomensHistoryMonth series, we’re excited to spotlight Ella Aiken, Gallagher Partner, mother of four, and member of our Litigation, Education, and Health Law Groups. Ella is a fierce advocate for her clients, representing businesses and organizations in commercial litigation, business disputes, risk management, healthcare regulatory matters, intellectual property infringement and enforcement actions, and medical malpractice defense. Before joining Gallagher, Ella practiced civil litigation and intellectual property law in New York City. She holds both a J.D. from Columbia Law School and an LL.M. in International Criminal Law from the Universiteit van Amsterdam, graduating with honors. Beyond her legal practice, Ella is deeply committed to pro bono work, representing immigrant women and children fleeing violence in partnership with Tahirih Justice Center. She also has dedicated her time to the arts and supporting services for neurodivergent adults, having served on the boards of Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and Itineris. We’re thrilled to announce that Anatoly Smolkin has rejoined Gallagher as a Partner after serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Maryland from 2018 to 2025.
