On Tuesday, Nov. 11, our Energy & Business Services team represented GRU at the Upper Room Ministries Senior Citizen and Caregivers Fair. They connected with attendees, shared energy-saving tips, and answered questions, all with a focus on supporting our senior citizens and caregivers. Thanks to their efforts, over 20 households signed up for free home energy surveys, helping our community save on energy costs and stay comfortable. Electric Lineworker, Alvin, and AMI Operations Manager, Doug, represented GRU at Eastside High School’s Career Day on Nov. 6. They engaged students with an interactive demonstration showcasing the steady hands lineworkers need to do their jobs safely and effectively. Alvin and Doug also highlighted the AMI Installer role as a great entry-level opportunity for soon-to-be graduates interested in a career in utilities.

Now Hiring: GRU is hiring a Water/Wastewater Apprentice to perform skilled work in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection systems. A typical work day may include installing, repairing, and replacing water/wastewater pipelines and associated components such as valves, fittings, service lines, meters, or manholes; operating heavy construction equipment and machinery; responding to piping system leaks and breaks; cleaning and investigating the condition of existing piping infrastructure; documenting work orders; and attending training courses and orientations.
