INC-5.2 is set! The next round of plastics treaty negotiations will take place this August in Geneva. At INC-5, the majority of countries stood firm alongside civil society, frontline communities, and scientists, pushing back against a small group of petroleum-producing nations. Now, at INC-5.2, their leadership will be key in securing: ?plastic reduction targets ?elimination of chemicals of concern ?#justtransition? ?equitable financial mechanism READ: https://lnkd.in/eA4HfwgS #INC5_2 #PlasticsTreaty #LessPlasticMoreLife #BreakFreeFromPlastic

A global network advancing grassroots, zero waste solutions to pollution and environmental injustice.
关于我们
GAIA's Mission: GAIA is a worldwide alliance of grassroots organizations, non-governmental organizations, and individuals who recognize that our planet's finite resources, fragile biosphere and the health of people and other living beings are endangered by polluting and inefficient production practices and health-threatening disposal methods. We envision a just, zero waste world built on respect for ecological limits and community rights, where people are free from the burden of toxic pollution, and resources are sustainably conserved, not burned or dumped.

The plastic industry’s playbook is predictable: delay, distract, and derail real solutions while pushing false ones. Right now, they’re running that same game against #SB54, California’s landmark plastic reduction law. If Governor Newsom’s administration doesn’t finalize and release the regulations by the March 8 deadline, we risk losing a critical opportunity to hold polluters accountable and prevent industry-backed loopholes from weakening the law. GAIA (Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives)?sees this fight for what it is: a battle over whether California will lead with true environmental justice or cave to corporate polluters. Communities at the frontlines of plastic production and pollution—from petrochemical corridors to incinerator-adjacent neighborhoods—have fought for decades to end the cycle of harm. SB 54 must move forward without delay, without industry interference, and without loopholes that allow incineration and chemical recycling to masquerade as solutions. Gavin Newsom, the world is watching. Stand firm. Release the regulations. Hold the line against polluters.
