How amazing it?is to promote the conservation and protection of our Indigenous seeds using art and music. Very inspired by this song by Esmond Majanga on Indigenous seeds. it is our way of life. Let us always protect and promote our indigenous seeds and way of life. there is #No criminality in being #indigenous. Let us not Criminalize indigenous seeds. Let is #Free all indigenous seeds for sustainable food security and climate action hence the realization of #SDGs 1, 2, and 13. Climate change threatens #HumanRights. It increases hunger, poverty, inequality & makes people vulnerable. Food policies addressing #ClimateChange must be grounded on human rights, so that agrifood systems can provide adequate food for all & ensure a healthy environment.

We clearly have 6 years to hit the targets of our #SDGs. How are we #performing in relation to these targets? Are we on the #right trajectory? as a globe? as a continent? how about at country level? This will clearly inform how we should set our targets and have concrete strategies to ensure that this is achieved. How do we do this? 1. We need to have #periodic reviews to see how we are performing in relation to the realization of these targets, maybe after every 3 years? 2. Identify #strongholds that help us realize these goals and #enhance them. 3. #Identify the weaknesses that #deter us from achieving these goals and find solutions to these challenges. 4. #Partner and #learn from well performing continents or countries to ensure the weak performing continents/countries can improve their initiatives. Therefore, it is important to note that #Agriculture and #Environment plays a key role in the realization of these targets hence #Must be prioritized, bearing in mind value and respect for #Indigenous knowledge and #ways of life including #indigenous seeds as they play a critical role in the priority areas, that is, #Agriculture and #Environment. Wonderful restoration efforts. Degraded landscapes when restored also improves the carbon #sinks, restores #biodiversity, #regenerates soil and soil #health and improves the #water holding capacity of these landscapes.
Why Agroecology Training and Farm Demonstrations? Agroecology training and farm demonstrations are crucial for several reasons: Knowledge Transfer and Skill Development, Bridging the knowledge gap: Many farmers, especially smallholders, lack the necessary knowledge and skills to adopt agroecological practices. Training programs fill this gap.? Training Farmers in Agroecology: A Sound Investment to Fight Hunger | Capacity for development Practical learning: Farm demonstrations provide hands-on experience, allowing farmers to see the benefits of agroecology firsthand. Promoting the Adoption of Agroecological Practices Building confidence: Training and demonstrations can boost farmers' confidence in their ability to implement agroecological methods. Overcoming challenges: Addressing common barriers to adoption, such as lack of access to inputs or markets. Creating a learning community: Fostering knowledge exchange among farmers. Enhancing Food Security and Resilience Improving soil health: Agroecological practices enhance soil fertility and water retention, leading to increased crop yields. Diversifying livelihoods: Promoting agrobiodiversity and integrated farming systems can reduce risks associated with climate change and market fluctuations. Strengthening local food systems: Supporting local production and consumption can improve food security and reduce reliance on external inputs. Environmental Benefits; Mitigating climate change: Agroecological practices can help sequester carbon, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and protect biodiversity. Protecting water resources: Sustainable water management practices are integral to agroecology.? 1. Slow Food on World Food Day: “Agroecology practices as the solution to the water crisis and to guarantee food security” Preventing soil erosion: Conservation agriculture techniques are essential for maintaining soil health. By combining training with practical demonstrations, it's possible to accelerate the #adoption of agroecology and create a more sustainable and #resilient #foodsystem.

Landscape restoration in degraded landscapes is possible. The disregarded gold in Drylands. An untapped potential. Change is coming soon!
Executive Director- Camic Apiculture & Green Act for Fact Initiative, Program Coordinator, Indigenous Women and Girls Initiative
Agroecology innovation and regenerative agricultural practices are among the key initiatives that work towards addressing food insecurity, climate change, landscape restoration, soil conservation, and regeneration. The blending of #indigenous knowledge and #technology helps improve the results of these initiatives, especially among individuals, families, and communities hence contributing towards the realization of #SDGs 1,2,5,8 and 13. #Youths play a crucial role in this and should be involved more. Courtesy of Patrick Lomadi, these initiatives are viable in degraded and disregarded areas. How about having such a replica farm in Tiaty next to an #apiary? how could the result be? how many more people can be impacted by his initiative? how many more people can be changed? how can this impact more children and families in terms of education? over 10,000 lives can be changed in Tiaty, with over 5,000 families and children being impacted by education. Women will be empowered and will also diversify their livelihoods. FAO, The World Bank, World Food Programme, African Development Bank Group, Mastercard Foundation, and other potential partners are welcomed in this journey to having a gender-sensitive and food-secure world. It is amazing to note that there is growth in fisheries and aquaculture production, despite the many challenges that this sector faces including plastic pollution. Baringo County has a great potential in aquaculture production, however, this opportunity has not been well tapped. Hoping that this opportunity will be tapped soon so as to keep improving this sector, help in addressing food security and contributing to the realization of #SDG 2.
