Mit dem Kaffeebecher aus Ton von GaeaStar (https://vicafe.ch/gaeastar) will ViCAFE der Flut von Einwegbechern etwas entgegensetzen. Doch wie überzeugt man Kundinnen und Kunden, den Becher zu benutzen? Und wie kann der Becher in Zukunft sogar lokal produziert werden? Dass auch die Kaffeebohnen von ViCAFE nachhaltig nach Hause transportiert werden k?nnen, erm?glicht ein Nachbar von ViCAFE auf dem Werkstadt-Areal - mit seinem Bananatex liefert QWSTION ein Ausgangsmaterial für einen wiederbefüllbaren Bohnenbeutel. Dass sich die beiden Unternehmen an diesem zentralen Ort in Zürich treffen k?nnen, ist wiederum der SBB CFF FFS zu verdanken, die das Areal behutsam und mit einem hohen Anteil an wiederverwendeten Materialien umnutzt - so schliesst sich der Kreis ??. Using 3-D printers and three ingredients of clay, salt, and water, GaeaStar has achieved an eggshell-thin clay cup that replaces the current paper to-go coffee cups with an elevated take-away regenerative specialty coffee experience. After being reused as many times as possible, this incredible looking cup, can be simply returned to the soil that it came from. Did you know? Out of the estimated 500 billion one-time-use coffee cups produced worldwide each year, only 1% can physically be recycled. This is due to the thin plastic lining in these paper cups that allow them to retain both the coffee and the coffee’s heat. Not only does this inclusion of plastic in the to-go cups impart an unnatural flavor into your coffee due to the plastic leaching from the cup to the hot drink, the 99% of 500 billion paper coffee cups being landfilled or incinerated are adding to the still little-known hazardous effects of microplastic exposure on human health through the water we drink, the soil we use to grow food, the very air we breathe. As you well know by now, at Buena Vida, we believe in partnerships that further our mission to mitigate climate change and help create farmer prosperity.
