The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern United States, Inc. (GACC South) was founded in 1978 to promote and support bilateral trade between Germany and the U.S. The GACC South is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with a branch office in Houston, Texas. The GACC South serves eleven Southern states - Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, and two U.S. Territories - Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In addition, five local chapters located in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas support the region, as well as our two affiliates the German American Business Chamber of South Florida (GABC) in Miami, Florida and the AlabamaGermany Partnership (AGP) in Birmingham, Alabama. The GACC South is a private, non-profit organization and serves as the official representative of German industry and trade in the Southern U.S. It is part of an international network composed of 150 German foreign chambers of commerce and government offices in 95 countries. #Recap Florida Chapter This week, we celebrated the successful launch of our Florida Chapter at the Tampa International Airport. The event brought together prominent leaders from German and American business communities, local officials, and industry experts, highlighting Florida’s tremendous business opportunities for global enterprises. The newly appointed director of the Florida Chapter, Tobias Borawski, opened the ceremony. “With Florida’s strategic location and business-friendly environment, this chapter serves as a gateway for German businesses entering the U.S. market right here in Florida,” Tobias Borawski stated, addressing an audience eager to strengthen bilateral trade. The inaugural ceremony featured Tampa Mayor Jane Castor and Consul General of Germany Christofer Burger, who emphasized the importance of Florida’s historic and growing German-American transatlantic partnership. Attendees included representatives from major German companies operating in Florida, such as Lufthansa and Siemens, alongside local business leaders and members of the GACC South leadership team. Local officials from Pinellas County Economic Development and the U.S. Department of Commerce also joined, further underscoring the collaborative effort to foster economic growth. Crispin Teufel, Chairman of the Board of GACC South, among the leadership committee of the new chapter, shared insights on their plans to foster and grow German-American collaboration through networking events, trade missions, and business development resources in and around Florida.
