Over the last few years, we have worked extensively to improve healthcare for pediatrics. It is not only about what we are building at Gabi SmartCare. I had the chance to participate in The Playbook for Pediatric Digital Medicine. The Digital Medicine Society (DiMe) is a global non-profit and the professional home for digital medicine. Together, we drive broad adoption of digital approaches to advance the practice of medicine and enhance public health. At Gabi, we believe in DiMe's mission. That's why we were one of the first companies to receive The DiMe Seal. Today, we are moving one step further with the finalization of the latest resource: The Playbook: Pediatric Digital Medicine. I'll be part of the panel next Thursday, Feb. 25 at 5PM CET. Join me to get a first look at the Playbook and learn how you can drive innovation in pediatric digital health. During the upcoming webinar, learn how The Playbook addresses: ?? How to develop truly child-centered digital solutions ?? Ways to navigate complex pediatric care systems ?? Methods to ensure privacy, safety, and security ?? Strategies for sustainable innovation and scaling ?? Approaches to improve clinical trial accessibility It's time to bring that same level of innovation to pediatric care. Register now: https://lnkd.in/e8yTFA34

Like others in the industry, I followed the FDA's latest draft guidance on pulse oximeters. Let's see why this matters and the key updates... ?? The FDA issued the latest draft guidance this week (January 7, 2025). As it is still in draft form and open for comments, I don't expect to see it enforced before summer. Still, it is a huge step toward addressing healthcare disparities. ?? Why This Matters As I already mentioned, pulse oximeters can be less accurate on patients with darker skin. Plenty of studies demonstrated the lack of accuracy on specific skin tone and especially in low saturation levels. This potential leads to delayed or missed treatment. The FDA is now taking decisive action to ensure these devices work for all patients. ?? Key Updates in the Guidance - Stricter accuracy requirements (Arms < 3%) - Minimum of 150 subjects required for clinical studies - At least 3,000 paired datapoints needed - Mandatory testing across diverse skin pigmentation using Monk Skin Tone (MST) scale - Required demonstration of non-disparate performance across all skin tones - Enhanced labeling requirements for both prescription and OTC devices ?? Industry Impact These new requirements significantly raise the bar for regulatory clearance. The extensive clinical testing requirements (150+ subjects and 3,000+ data points) will demand significant investment in validation studies. Furthermore, we have not even addressed the delays in the laboratories. At Gabi SmartCare, we're proud to say our algorithm was designed with these concerns in mind. Our patented skin calibration technology already meets the FDA's upcoming requirements. This guidance is expected to come into force this summer, marking a crucial advancement in medical device equity and patient safety. ?? What are your thoughts on these new requirements? How do you see them impacting the industry? ??

Finally back to the office after an incredible HLTH Inc. event at Las Vegas – an unforgettable experience filled with insights, connections, and exciting opportunities for Gabi SmartCare! HLTH brought together some of the biggest names in health innovation: it was inspiring to engage with leaders from companies like Masimo, Withings and GE HealthCare. I’m extremely grateful to MEDVIA for their outstanding support, which gave me the opportunity to showcase Gabi's solutions and connect with amazing Belgian founders. Thanks to KidsX, I also had the opportunity to pitch Gabi SmartCare alongside other pioneering startups in the program. It was a thrilling moment to share the stage with such visionaries! A big thank you to Michael Mann, MHA for our upcoming podcast – a great conversation about the future of pediatric home care. I also had the chance to reconnect with old friends like Suzy Engwall and Alyssa Abo, MD, MBA, and to build valuable new connections. Highlights included productive meetings with Drew Trate from Advocate Health, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the U.S., and Dylan Turner from doxy.me, which needs no introduction. To top it all off: an energetic Busta Rhymes concert and the vibrant city of Las Vegas! Thank you to everyone I met and reconnected with for their warm welcome and inspiration. Together, we’re moving towards an exciting future in connected pediatric health. #HLTH2024 #HealthInnovation #GabiSmartCare #MEDVIA #KidsX #Networking #PediatricHomeCare
