Analog technology plays a crucial role in electronics by processing real-world signals. To best prepare students to harness its potential, ECE and Texas Instruments have collaborated to launch pioneering educational opportunities in analog circuits. For the first time, student designs will be sent for manufacturing in TI’s newest wafer fab. This incredible opportunity allows the next generation of analog design engineers to experiment with their own integrated circuits, gaining valuable insights into chip fabrication and testing processes. ?? Navigating unfamiliar indoor spaces can be a daunting task for persons with disabilities. To address these challenges, ECE Professor Patricio Vela is working with the Mapping for Accessibility in Built Environments project, which aims to develop a digital app to improve accessibility for PWDs. By leveraging crowdsensing, AI, and robotics, the team will develop enhanced indoor maps and more accessible computer interfaces for retrieving map content. Read more: https://lnkd.in/evy7Kyp9

Scanning documents may soon be getting a lot easier, thanks to new research ECE Professor?David Citrin. He and his Terahertz Laboratory team were able to use novel terahertz imaging technology to count stacks of paper in a non-contact fashion. The technology has the potential to complete sorting and scanning tasks in a fraction of the time of current scanners. The research also recently won the European Optical Society Prize. Transport yourself to medieval Spain and congratulate our very own ECE Professor John D. Cressler on the release of the final book in his Anthems of al-Andalus Series, “Merchants of Inequity.” ? After 14 years of dedicated research and writing, Professor Cressler concluded his epic saga, which immerses readers in the vibrant and complex world of medieval Spain. His journey took him deep into Spain’s rich history — walking through Granada’s ancient streets and exploring the cultural vibrancy of medieval Cordoba. ? His work highlights the fascinating intersections of love, politics, and cultural dynamics and exemplifies how blending passion with profession can lead to extraordinary achievements. ? Join Professor Cressler for a special book launch event at the Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center on Tuesday, August 27, from 6:30- 9:00 pm!
