Director General of Leaders for Peace

On this International Day for the #Elimination of Violence against Women I have been invited to take part in the panel discussion "Eliminating violence against women worldwide: A new protocol to strengthen #CEDAW" at the French senate. Thank you Patricia Elias and senator Olivia Richard ?Every 10 minutes, a woman is killed by an intimate partner or a family member (UN Woman). - More than 400 million girls and women alive today experienced rape or sexual assault before the age of 18 (UNICEF, 2024). Women are especially more vulnerable during armed conflicts. - The number of cases of conflict-related sexual violence recorded by the UN rose by 50% in 2023. To tackle these terrifying figures, we must advocate for a genuine feminist diplomacy on an international scale. The approach must be global, and incorporated into public and foreign policies of states. Today, I highlighted the importance of putting women back at the heart of governance and decision-making processes. Since 2018, Leaders for Peace is actively committed to the elimination of #violence #against #women, notably by standing alongside Doctor Mukwege, who continues to heal thousands of women who have been victims of genital mutilation in war, and to plead for firm international justice against their perpetrators. During our last Itinerant Peace University, in Armenia, where over 95% of the students were women, we encouraged and helped young women to act on their ambitions to take part in the governance of their country, for a more peaceful future. It was a real pleasure and an honor to share my thoughts with those incredible women Chiara Corazza caroline Carolinesam88 Kendem, Olivia Richard Laure Olga GONDJOUT #Sarah Barukh Nyla Khan FRSA Jocelyne Adriant-Mebtoul Hélène CONWAY-MOURET Assa Samaké-Roman Yasmin Khan Cynthia FILARTIGA LACROIX Euphrasie KOUASSI YAO ONU Femmes France Badeela MALONGA Murielle Eurydice IFOUNDE DAHO Ms. Hod FRAGONARD Edine H. ?? From Volun-tourism to Volun-transformation: A More Impactful Approach to Cambodia ?? Volun-tourism, while often well-intentioned, can fall short of creating sustainable change. At the recent G100 Values & Volunteerism Summit, I had the privilege of sharing my 9-year journey in Cambodia and exploring how we can shift from short-term volunteer projects to impactful, community-driven transformation. In my session, I discussed: ? The challenges of volun-tourism and how to address them. ? Strategies to empower local communities through skill-sharing and responsible volunteerism. ? Practical ways to support local economies and ensure long-term, sustainable impact. It's time to rethink how we approach volunteering and focus on empowering communities to thrive. Let’s move beyond “feel-good” efforts and become true catalysts for positive change. ?? How do you think we can make volunteerism more sustainable and impactful? Let’s start the conversation! #Volunteerism #SustainableImpact #CommunityEmpowerment #G100 #G100WEF #G100Summit #ValuesAndVolunteerism #PositiveChange #411TStreet Luisa Gentile

On behalf of Karen Lorena Bruges Solorzano, G100 Global Chair for Mission Zero Hunger, welcoming for this wing G100 Denim Club partner and inspiring leader, John Akinboyewa, Engineer, Innovator, Artist and Social Entrepreneur, TheHungreeApp.com, USA. John Akinboyewa, P.E., is an accomplished petroleum engineer, visionary social entrepreneur, and multi-talented creative whose work spans various industries and disciplines. With expertise in engineering, software development, and a passion for addressing some of the world’s most pressing problems, he has devoted his life to applying his technical prowess and leadership skills to create a positive global impact. Whether in oil and gas reservoir management or in his ground-breaking efforts to combat food insecurity and waste through The HungreeApp, he exemplifies the convergence of innovation, community service, and technical excellence. Born in Nigeria, John’s early years were defined by a blend of resourcefulness and community spirit. Growing up in a household with sporadic access to basic utilities like electricity and water, he and his family learned to make the most of limited resources. For only a few months each year, they had access to public electricity, and even then, it was unreliable, available for only a few days at a time. These challenges forged in him a sense of innovation and the importance of community solidarity. A transformative event in his childhood was when his family drilled a water borehole in their yard, allowing them to provide clean water not only for themselves but also for their neighbors. By running a water line to the fence outside their property, they ensured that the community could access water whenever it was available. This act of sharing became a powerful metaphor for him, demonstrating that communities are stronger when they collaborate and share resources. It was the genesis of his belief in “villages”—close-knit communities working together to support one another—a concept that would later inspire the design of The HungreeApp’s village-based food-sharing model. Even as a child, John exhibited an extraordinary aptitude for technology and problem-solving. By the age of six, he began programming in BASIC, laying the foundation for his future as an engineer and innovator. While his early academic focus was on STEM subjects, he also nurtured a deep love for the arts, especially music. Lacking access to a proper piano, he taught himself music theory on a small toy keyboard that could only play one note at a time. Undeterred, he moved to London, where within just a short period of formal music lessons, he quickly translated his theoretical knowledge into practical skills. Within months, he had gain proficiency on the piano, organized concerts, performed, sung, and taught others how to play piano. #G100denimclub #heforshe Dr. (h.c) Karen BrugéS
