Masonry products are completely reusable. Easily salvaged and reused, masonry materials like concrete blocks are instantly recycled and put back into the system, saving landfills from millions of pounds of industrial waste.

A "stretcher" is a brick that is laid horizontally, with the long side exposed to the outer face of the wall. A "header" is also laid flat and horizontally, but with its short end exposed.

A bricklayer is a mason who specializes in installing brick masonry. Care to guess the median hourly salary for a bricklayer in the U.S.? If you guessed $24 an hour, you're right. Advancing through the ranks to become a master bricklayer can take a decade or more, though.

Throughout the ancient civilizations, stone and clay continued to be the main materials used for masonry. Up until the Romans came up with concrete, that is. They invented cement from pozzolanic tuff, a kind of volcanic ash, and mixed this with water, lime, and stone fragments. From this, concrete was born.
