A lot here. #1 -- Most primary care docs don't know how to help patients with eating disorders. Years ago when I attended an obesity medical conference on behalf of Wyeth Ayerst's Redux, all the clinicians were thin. All! As an overweight person all I could think was "how could they help?" Plus, at the conference breaks they served chocolate chip cookies. Where was fruit, yogurt, healthy stuff? #2 -- fewer people dealing with being underweight than being overweight. Question then is why -- for so long -- has being underweight been treated as a medical issue but being overweight has been strictly 'bad' behavior? #obesity, #GLP-1, #overweight

Hum. So 2+2 is not equaling 4. Maybe, just maybe it's time to invest more in patient advocacy and engagement. Sales reps play a role but maybe it's time we re-considered what their role is and how they do it. Biotech needs to hear.

Well, the commonly accepted investment in sales reps communicating new cancer medicines to doctors is being evaluated by whether patients are living longer when drug reps meet with oncologists. The answer here is "NO"

Earlier this week, Elon Musk tweeted: “Nothing would do more to improve the health, lifespan and quality of life for Americans than making GLP inhibitors super low cost to the public.” It's a sentiment he’s expressed several times before. (The drugs are not actually inhibitors; they’re agonists.) Then, Calley Means, an entrepreneur who was critical in birthing the MAHA movement, responded, saying that Musk’s post “misses the spiritual crisis we are facing.” Means said the drugs should only be a small part of the effort to address chronic disease rates, and he claimed that Novo Nordisk “has been able to pay US regulators, media, and lawmakers to force this drug down our throats as the only option.” ...Axios recently reported that the CEO of Eli Lilly, maker of Mounjaro and Zepbound, went to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump.
