Today, on World Cities Day, the United Nations have decided to highlight youth-proposed innovative ideas on #climate change and explore ways to transform these into concrete actions. Experts stress that including young people in urban planning is essential to leverage their innovative ideas and support long-term sustainable growth. Since 2019, the FXB Center has been supporting FXB International's FXB Climate Advocates program, which gathers hundreds of young people around the world, to give them the intellectual and operational tools to develop their projects to fight climate change in their local communities. Here are some examples of their projects. Puneet Singh Signal, from India, is part of an initiative to record a series of conversations with young persons with disabilities or chronic illnesses to understand the challenges caused by climate change (i.e. heatwaves, lack of access to clean drinking water, lack of cooling during extreme summers, flooding, and severe air pollution), and what policies changes are needed on a city level to end their struggles. Aterodo Praise, from Nigeria, organizes events focused on using art as a powerful medium to inspire action against climate change. It aims to engage the campus community in understanding environmental issues through creativity. Elizaveta Petrovskaia, from Russia, is conducting workshops to educate young people on climate action and urban sustainability, engaging young people in decision-making processes through youth councils and advisory groups for local governments. Her initiative also organizes local clean-up events and tree-planting initiatives in collaboration with schools and local youth groups. Bebile-Kogh Michael Kwame, from Ghana, is part of the Battle Against Plastics, a community-driven initiative to tackle the growing problem of plastic waste pollution, particularly in urban areas. His goal is to raise awareness about the environmental harm caused by plastic waste, reduce pollution in his local cities, and engage the youth in climate action. By mobilizing volunteers, he aims to clean the cities and inspire collective action for a greener, more sustainable future. 关于我们
The pursuit of equity is central to all we do. The Fran?ois-Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health and Human Rights was founded and endowed by Albina du Boisrouvray in 1993. Her goal was to provide protection to children by furthering the vision for health and human rights of first director Jonathan Mann, and it received the enthusiastic collaboration of then-Dean Harvey Fineberg. Our Mission: We use interdisciplinary approaches to promote equity and dignity for those oppressed by racism, poverty and stigma, nationally and around the world. We are proud to partner with a diverse group of scholars, educators, elected officials, government agencies, nonprofit organizations and members of the international policy community to advance health and human rights, and to show the harmful effects of violations on children. Our Vision: We envision a world that fulfills the human rights of all people, with a special attention to children, and protects them from injustices imposed by discrimination, poverty, conflict and disaster.

The FXB Center envisions a world where human rights are universally upheld, with a particular focus on safeguarding #children from the injustices wrought by discrimination, poverty, conflict, and disaster. On November 20, 1989, world leaders made a historic commitment to the world’s children by adopting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child – an international agreement on childhood which serves as a guiding light for our work.
