?? It’s Social-Official! Meet FWMBA President, Cole McClatchy, AMP? Since taking on the role earlier this year,?Cole McClatchy?has done an incredible job leading the Fort Worth Mortgage Bankers Association (and now that it’s online, it’s official, right?). I asked Cole a few questions—check them out to get to know our President! ?: What trends do you foresee shaping the future of the mortgage industry in Fort Worth? ???: In my opinion technology will continue to have a major impact on our industry. As we learned at our October luncheon, the advancements in AI will play a major role in how we reach potential borrowers as well as the organizational efficiencies of our respective companies. Through these advancements, my hope is that we can continue to make the dream of homeownership more attainable for all. However at the end of the day the mortgage business is still a relationship industry. Whether that is working with borrowers or other business partners you still need to develop and cultivate relationships to succeed. One of my favorite quotes is, “people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Even with all the technology changes that are to come, that quote will always remain true. Relationships matter and how you treat people matter. ?: What advice would you give to someone new to the mortgage industry who wants to get involved with FWMB? ???: My advice to anyone starting out is the be a sponge and to get involved in as much as you can. Whether that is on the local level at the FWMBA or the state level with the TMBA, you need to be active and willing to help where there is a need. In September we learned from some great leaders in our industry and each of them emphasized the need to be an active participant in the industry and to have a network of industry friends that you can lean on throughout the ups and downs of your career. It is my experience that people are always willing and eager to help you on your professional journey. You just need to be willing to listen and pitch in where needed. ?: If you could switch careers for a day with anyone in any field, who would it be and why? ???: This is a tough one… being a big sports fan my first thought is to say the commissioner of a professional sports league or maybe the GM of a team. However, I think I would have to say being a pilot for a day would be really cool. I don’t want any part of flying the actual plane but to be able to be in the cockpit for a long flight would be incredible. What an amazing way to see the beauty of the world from a different perspective. In my opinion, it would be a wonderful experience and one that would help put into perspective what truly matters in the world.
