Incredibly powerful moment when our residents stood during the big game pregame and joined in saluting the flag during the National Anthem! We had a great party filled with good food, fun games and great people!

So grateful to work with this diverse, talented team! They share their passion and zest with our residents each and every day!

The Fitness Team at Friendship Village of Bloomington Pivots to Meet Resident Needs Our Fitness Team teaches a seated MOVE Class three days a week for our Assisted Living residents. Over the past several months, the team noticed declining attendance. Informal polling revealed that many residents who love the class felt the community room where it was conducted was just a bit too far away. What's the solution? Move the MOVE class! Transitioning to the Aspen AL Living Room increased participation from 2-3 residents to over a dozen each session. Kudos to making it work for those we serve!

Who knew flexibility training can boost mental well-being? By engaging in a stretching or yoga session, we can relieve stress, promote relaxation, and enhance overall mental clarity. Ben Lee, Fitness Lead at Friendship Village of Bloomington presented: "Loosen Up: An Education Workshop on Flexibility" this week. Flexibility plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle as we age. Speaking of flexibility, the Fitness Team also hosted the documentary of Marian Diamond, "My Love Affair with the Brain: The Life & Science of Dr. Marian Diamond". She and her team were the first to publish evidence that the brain can change with experience and improve with enrichment, what is now called neuroplasticity. FVB’s Annual Scholarship Dinner was especially celebratory this year with 40 of our wonderful team members receiving scholarships! Friendship Village of Bloomington leads Lifespace Communities in the number and amount given. Lisa Dagher, Director of Gift Planning, Marlon Walker, HR Director, Virginia Olson, FVB Chair of the Foundation, and David Miller, Executive Director, all thanked the residents for their outstanding support. One of the returning graduates spoke of her gratitude as well as many current students. At the end of the evening, the students handed out notes of thanks designed with their school’s mascot. We are indeed a community / family who celebrates together and supports each other!

Meet our first graduating class of FVB University! A group of 10 team members were guided through a year of learning leadership skills. They spent time in discussion groups, study, and working alongside department leaders in the community. Friendship Village believes in supporting each team member in their personal and professional growth. Learning and growing are key values in our community. We truly believe our success starts within.

Announcing our June Team Member of The Month - Rose Grout. Rose is one of our Full-Time Receptionists over in Highwood Park. Rose was nominated by another team member. This individual wrote: “Rose shows up every day representing the Living Lifespace attitude. I know from the times I’ve seen her, even under pressure, she stays positive. She is really good at multitasking when she has multiple people waiting to sign in, answering phone calls, or even letting guests into Red Pine. If she gets the chance, she even cleans up the main lobby area.” Congratulations Rose on winning Team Member of The Month! FVB appreciates all that you do!
