"Have you thought about building SHRMP.bio somewhere else? Are you dependent on backing from Australia?" ? Since the beginning, we have been asked these questions, often by partners who reflected on the "deeptech" and biotech vision behind SHRMP.bio, along with the associated time and capital needs, and who then flagged that there may be a potential cultural misalignment with Australia. ? *No, we have not* - and here is why not: ? Maybe surprisingly, it has been our Australian experience that triggered our interest in the Blue Economy and the concept of SHRMP.bio.? Australia, with its extensive coastline and harsh environments, is uniquely positioned to develop *technologies* with significant export potential.? We boast excellent R&D institutions and a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem, making it an ideal ground for innovation. The Blue Industry represents a key growth area that could be leveraging Australia's geographical advantages.? And even if the Blue Economy doesn’t capture attention, SHRMP.bio combines both, biotechnology and high-tech (modern) manufacturing, sectors regularly featured in government and media discussions.? For these reasons alone, Australia should be the perfect home for SHRMP.bio. Read more here:?https://lnkd.in/g35FX--H

The Future of Seafood is on land - and we are creating this future. SHRMP.bio is developing the technologies to build a seafood manufacturing system ready for the challenges of the 21st Century. SHRMP.bio will enable production in urban or industrial areas close to markets, minimising land use and simplifying supply chains. Production will be able to be moved to areas that are not prone to climate risk, resulting in limited disruptions due to natural disasters and reduced losses caused by the impact of disease or predators. A fully transparent and quality-controlled supply chain will ensure the traceability of ingredients from raw material to finished product, helping to decrease wild catch and reduce the environmental and social impact of illegal fishing.

???Exploring the Future of Aquaculture Business Models!???? ? As technology advances, aquaculture has the potential to transform seafood business models beyond the traditional "selling fish" model. Imagine selling fresh product directly to consumers (B2C) through single purchases or subscription services.? ? But Aquaculture companies could also focus on creating and selling technology (not the seafood) that simplifies production or offer complete systems and comprehensive solutions, including hardware leasing and ingredient subscriptions.? ? There's also a unique opportunity to develop value-added food products or comprehensive nutrition solutions that cater to modern consumer needs.? ? Aquaculture could be the key technology platform that enables all these possibilities. Let's rethink this overlooked industry!? ? ???**The Future of Aquaculture: A Key to Addressing Global Food Challenges**??? ? As we look ahead to the next 25 years, demographic shifts will see around 7 billion people living in urban areas and mega-cities, many of whom will be older and have unique nutritional needs.? ? However, we face significant challenges. Climate change and pollution will impact food production areas, leading to the loss and geographic shift of arable land. While models suggest there will be enough food globally, rising conflict risks threaten trade and food security in various regions. ? Even with effective global food distribution, specific nutrients—especially those found in seafood—will be scarce.? ? This is where high-tech onshore aquaculture becomes a crucial yet often overlooked solution. It has the potential to transform how we approach food production and nutrition.? ? Key considerations for the future of aquaculture include: 1???Identifying target markets: Should we focus on affluent mega-cities, less developed areas, or humanitarian efforts? 2???Rethinking business models: Instead of just “selling fish,” could we sell technology, create complete systems for food production, or develop subscription services? ? By leveraging advances in technology, we can not only make aquaculture more accessible but also open up new opportunities for sustainable food production. ? Let’s explore how aquaculture can serve as a key technology platform to address these pressing global challenges.??? ? ???**Exploring the Future: Technological Advancement and Successful Climate Action**??? ? ? At SHRMP.bio, we've been diving deep into technology trends and the impact of climate change. Our analysis led us to explore four distinct scenarios, from minimal tech progress and ineffective climate action to significant advancements capable of limiting global warming. Today, we want to focus on the second scenario that involves major technological breakthroughs, especially as a technology startup looking to create a positive impact in Australia, but for the world. ? **Scenario 4: Successfully Limiting Global Warming to 1.5-2.4°C with Significant Technological Advances**?? ? In this promising scenario, we (as in the world) have successfully mitigated global warming and were able to adapt to the challenges of climate change. Key highlights include: ? - **Sustainable Food Production**: Traditional farming techniques are adapted to minimize emissions and reduce farmland expansion. - **Innovative Farming Practices**: Desert and seawater farming, along with urban vertical farms, have become mainstream, utilizing low-power devices and enhancing local supply chains. - **Automation in Agriculture**: Developed countries embrace fully automated precision farming, while developing nations focus on lower-tech solutions to achieve food sovereignty. - **Minimized Conflicts**: International tensions are reduced, and trade remains functional, enabling effective resource sharing and maintaining stability. ? In this landscape, technology ownership and expertise are crucial—not only for security and commercial reasons, but also for helping vulnerable countries maintain local food supplies and strengthen their regional trade. ? ???As we move forward, we aim to be part of the solution, driving innovation that supports sustainable practices and climate resilience. Let's work together to shape a greener future! ? ???**Exploring the Future: The Elysium Scenario**??? In our recent analysis of technology trends and climate change mitigation efforts, we've identified four potential scenarios for the future. Today, we want to focus on the scenario that combines significant technological advances with failed climate action—what we call the *Elysium Scenario*. In this world, we could see a stark division between "haves" and "have-nots" shaped by access to technology. Here are some key insights: - Extreme yield losses in traditional agriculture and fisheries might be offset by improvements in yields in the far north and south, but only for a privileged few. - Countries that invest heavily in technological solutions will thrive, while those unable to do so will struggle to adapt. - We may witness mass migrations towards these more prosperous regions, leading to increased competition over food resources and technology, ultimately impacting global trade. - Those with access to advanced technologies could achieve nutritional independence through localized, decentralized farming practices combined with automation and precision farming. - Where organic farming persists, it will leverage minimal resources through advanced techniques. - With stricter regulations or unavailability wild-caught products may become luxury items. - Access to previously uninhabitable areas will likely lead to new conflicts, both on land and in water. The *Elysium Scenario* highlights that the ownership and control of technology will be vital in the face of climate change and conflict. As we navigate these challenges, how we collaborate and innovate will determine our collective future.
