Shaham N. and I had the opportunity to host an event last night on behalf of Future of Higher Ed and in partnership with SXSW EDU and Greg Rosenbaum. Kelvin Bentley, Ph.D. of @ut-system did a masterful job as MC weaving in intriguing sci-fi references to drive the conversation. Thanks to Alec Nguyen from Afforai (AI-powered research assistant) and Paul Truax from Cognify Learning Company (course-based AI tutor) for sharing their startup origin stories, successes, and challenges. And special thanks to Kasey Ford from The University of Texas at Austin for stepping in literally at the last minute and sharing the Office of the Provost's startupesque UT Sage project. Some key takeaways (not AI-generated): ?? transparency -- all stakeholders needs to understand how a tool is working under the hood ?? evidenced-based product development and adoption -- build for real problems and prove your solution works ?? shared ownership by learners and educators -- students want to know their profs are involved and instructors want to see how students are using AI I'm looking forward to the continued conversation and collaboration with all of you!
