In personal victory news, I just realized I logged over 100 workouts on Future! Even with a boot on my foot, my trainer and I are finding creative ways to keep me moving. I miss the hiking trails, but I'm so happy to have a new recumbent elliptical at home. Future has been the perfect level of accountability, encouragement, and customization I needed to stay consistent with weight training, the exercise nut I had a hard time cracking. I've stayed consistent on vacation, on work trips, and through injury. However, I'm also proud to say that I've been good about resting and rearranging my days (or taking extra rest days) when I'm feeling run down. Rest is also a success!

On this day in 2017, Justin, Lucas, Andrew, and I started building Future with the belief that 1-on-1 coaching could improve health and well-being beyond what most people could accomplish on their own. In a world that’s ever busier, we believed the time and care of another person – an expert coach – is the ultimate gift. Fast-forward to today, and we’re now the largest provider of personal training in the country, and accelerating. Having trained with my own coach (shouts to Kurtis) for over half a decade now, I know that I personally wouldn’t be the father and founder I am today without his support through it all. This is also a good moment to pause and say thank you to our members, coaches, and teammates. I’m inspired every day by what you all achieve together. And I’m especially excited for what we’ll announce soon ?? Onward!

In our Recovery Day series, we explore how Future members prioritize rest and recovery while juggling busy lives outside the gym. Today’s post features William Norvell, Co-Founder of the mental wellness platform Forte and longtime Future member. After starting his own company, getting married, and having kids, consistent workouts became less of a priority. Then a year ago he found Future and never looked back: “My Future Coach got me back to full strength in a convenient and easily accessible way for my life. It’s been truly game changing. I’m a better human being when I work out consistently.? Full stop.? A better leader, a better father, a better husband, and a better friend.” Now he’s taking the same mentality he brought to his fitness routine and applying it to his recovery practice, viewing them as equally important to maintaining his mental health: “Humans are not made to be on 24/7/365. We are wired to live in a rhythm of work and rest. It's good for our body, soul, strength, and mind. Rest is crucial to making gains and I embrace the time by doing something I enjoy, like building legos with my son, or going for a hike with my wife where I can be fully present and dialed in.”

Today we’re excited to launch Recovery Day, a series where we explore how Future members prioritize rest and recovery, while juggling a busy life outside the gym. Our first post features Kat Holmes –– a decorated Team USA Fencer training for Paris 2024 – AND a third year medical student. Despite two-a-days, a packed academic schedule, and competitions that take her from Abu Dhabi to Chengdu, she makes time to slow down: “I train twice a day, five days a week, run once a week, and go to international competitions between 12 to 18 times a year. Needless to say, with my schedule, rest is essential. Mental recovery, where I take a break from the sport altogether, has been critical for keeping me fresh and focused. Though I'm not as good about this, sleep is also important.? Between medical school and training, it can be hard to get enough ZZZ's in. Accountability drives results. Especially true for things you NEED to do, but don't WANT to do. About a year ago a potential investor told me to check out one of their portfolio companies, Future. They thought there were some similarities in their platform and ours. They were right and I've learned a ton, but more than that, I got ACCOUNTABILITY ... human accountability. Having a human on the other side building my workouts and checking in has been a game changer. I have averaged 4 per week for over a year. Why? One I want to stay healthy. Two I don't want to disappoint someone putting in so much work on my programming. With 3 kids and a startup - this is a huge win for me. If you are struggling to get something done right now, call a friend. Have them check in on you a few times a week. I guarantee you will make more progress than alone.
