It’s exciting to hear that LanzaTech is expanding their biorefining platform capabilities to now produce commercial-scale nutritional protein directly from CO2 called LanzaTech Nutritional Protein (LNP). CEO of LanzaTech, Dr. Jennifer Holmgren says,” These facilities are expected to produce between 0.5 to 1.5 tons of LNP per day, and given the high protein content of LNP, 0.5 tons per day of LNP is roughly the equivalent of giving a typical complete daily intake of protein to approximately 9,000 people.” Impressive work by LanzaTech?? The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded a $10 million grant to the University of Maine Forest Bioproducts Research Institute (FBRI) and The Aquaculture Research Institute (ARI) to conduct research into making sustainable fish feed from wood. ???? Alongside collaborating with the University of Massachusetts Lowell, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS), and Arbiom, this project aims to convert the organic matter found in low-quality wood into fish feed proteins using Arbiom’s microbial fermentation process. ?? ???
