Hello all, at the end of Black History Month I was honored for the opportunity to not only attended the Black Leadership Summit for Future Black Leaders Inc (FBL) but also be inducted into the Angela Davis class of College Ambassadors for FBL. This event featured many immersive workshops and networking opportunities. Along with a panel with established professionals like Erica Buchanan-Rivera, Ph.D., Geordan Coleman and John Taylor who shared respectable insights into their professional and personal experience. The opportunity to network with like minded individuals from many different demographics across the Midwest was a one of a kind experience. As of now I am already positively developing socially and professionally from the summit. Once again thank you FBL family I can’t wait to start working on some future initiatives that can impact others!

What started as a vision in 2019 has grown into something greater than I ever imagined. To end off Black History Month Future Black Leaders Inc hosted our 7th Annual Black Leadership Summit at the The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art bringing together Black student leaders from across the country. Originally, our goal was to connect and support high school Black Student Unions—or help schools create one. Now, seven years later, we’re working with college students to strengthen their networks, foster leadership, and keep their BSUs engaged. I’m beyond grateful to see the impact of this mission continue to grow. Thank you Mia Morales & Shania Byers and to everyone who made this event possible. We’re just getting warmed up!

This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending the premiere of Afrofuturism in Costume Design at the Madam Walker Legacy Center a collaboration with The Children's Museum of Indianapolis on behalf of Future Black Leaders Inc. This exhibit highlights the visionary work of Ruth E. Carter, whose iconic designs have shaped films like Black Panther, Malcolm X, School Daze, Baby Boy, Roots, Coming 2 America, Selma, Do the Right Thing and more. Seeing her artistry up close and hearing about her creative process was truly inspiring. It was also incredible to hear from Kristian L. President of the Madam Walker Legacy Center, and Jennifer Pace Robinson, MS President & CEO of The Children's Museum. Their passion for preserving and uplifting Black culture through storytelling and design made the event even more powerful. The exhibit, which will be open at The Children's Museum from March 22 through September with over 60 Different costumes and designs. This Exhibit is a must-see for anyone interested in the intersection of fashion, history, and Afrofuturism. It was also a great opportunity to connect with so many brilliant minds, including Shania Byers and engage in conversations about storytelling through design. A huge thank you to Karen Yakovac & Angelina Moore and everyone who made this event possible. Looking forward to more moments that celebrate Black creativity, culture, and legacy!
