So many amazing brands and convos from the week! Excited for the future.
Album dropping soon. Jk jk. I can’t sing or rap. But I did just spend 3 days in LA talking to some remarkable brands about their growth plans. Walking up and down countless aisles can feel overwhelming at times, but a few really stood out to me based on branding, flavor, story telling, and GTM strategy. Favs from the trip: BORED & THIRSTY INC. So much more than canned water. Killer brand. Great story telling. And possibly the most innovative GTM plans I’ve seen in years. Don’t sleep on Kurt and his dynamic squad. Minor Figures A tasty companion to a great cup of coffee — not to mention, spectacular packaging. I had to go back time and time again. Paranice ? I just wanna be friends with the Founders Antonio & Habib. The brand experience they created was a complete masterclass with every detail curated, and super tasty food. @Moss A delicious sea moss & nootropics drink brought you by Michael B Jordan, Ross, and a super passionate team. This booth just pulled me in, the packaging was on point, and it’s no doubt headed for massive success. Thanks to the entire Fusion Retail Group team for a wild few days.

Had an incredible time at yesterday’s Commerce Catalyst Lunch & Learn, hosted by The Grounded Company, where I sat on a panel discussing the complexities of growing a brand across both retail and e-commerce. One of the best pieces of advice for founders? Find strong partners who truly understand and can help you navigate the nuances of retail, e-commerce P&Ls, and growth strategies. While e-commerce and retail operate on very different economic models, they must work together to fuel your brand’s success. Expanding into retail isn’t just about scaling—it’s about meeting your customers where they are. The more accessible your product is, the more opportunities you create for conversion and long-term loyalty. “Juan Valdez is back? I love it!” - Excited Cubs fan, February 2025 While the start to the MLB’s season is still about a month away, the Chicago Cubs's 2025 Spring Season is well underway, with the team taking up residency at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona. Given Green Coffee Company's partnership between Juan Valdez and the Cubs, we have opted to use these first games to introduce the new, co-branded cold brew cans for the first time to thousands of Cubs fans who come from across the country to see their beloved team play. As you can see below, in addition to the hot coffee sold in Wrigley Field, the cans are now available for purchase at concession stands in both stadiums. Last weekend, our team went to Sloan Park in order to give out cold brew samples, interact with our potential customers and get direct feedback regarding the product. The cans were gone in under an hour, and folks’ comments were overwhelmingly positive. People loved the light sweetness and smoothness of the coffee and were surprised to learn that it was simply a pure cold brew. However, the highest praise we received was regarding the packaging. Fans didn’t want to open them at first, thinking they were high-value collectors’ items. They were thrilled to hear that the cold brew was already on the Juan Valdez website, and will be sold en masse at Wrigley Field during the regular season. Their comments also reinforced our belief that these cans and other co-branded items with the Cubs are going to be a huge hit in the greater Chicago area, where we have begun actively pushing retail distribution. Launching our cold brew at Sloan Park represents another step in our mission to make Juan Valdez, presented by GCC, the leading #Colombian coffee brand in the U.S. and Canada.
