We work with local governments & communities to accelerate progress and inspire systemic change.

关于我们

FUSE is dedicated to freeing our country from the social and economic barriers to opportunities that have been perpetuated by a history of systemic and institutionalized racism. We partner with local governments and communities to more effectively address pressing challenges by placing experienced professionals in local government agencies. These FUSE Executive Fellows lead strategic projects that are designed to accelerate progress and advance racial equity. We are also dedicated to sharing the insights that emerge from our work to inspire all civic leaders to think and act differently in their efforts to achieve systemic change. Our work focuses on issues such as affordable housing and homelessness; workforce training and living-wage jobs; pandemic response and health equity; education reform and digital access; public safety and justice reform; climate resilience and green infrastructure; and more. FUSE has worked on over 250 projects in 42 cities and counties across 18 states serving a combined population of 25 million people. The majority of our alumni continue to work in civic leadership and nearly all our government partners return each year with requests for additional projects.

See how FUSE Innovation Labs are helping government partners tackle complex challenges like the Community Taylor Yard Equity Strategy (TYES) in Los Angeles. In a self-written blog, FUSE Executive Fellow Edidiong Mendie, Ph.D. shares how the Innovation Lab approach created alignment among stakeholders, built trust, and established a governance structure for equitable redevelopment of a 100-acre green space project. As Michael Affeldt, L.A. River Revitalization Coordinator, notes: "The FUSE Innovation Lab provided an excellent platform for connection and creativity with our valued partners on the Community TYES project." ?? Climate Planning | Carbon Measurement | Operational Strategy | Net Zero | Healthy People on a Habitable Planet

My #climate heart is happy today, as Washoe County Commissioners adopted the Climate Action Plan that Brian Beffort and I wrote with input from over 1,000 #community members. Climate leadership from local elected officials is a bright spot at a bleak moment at the federal level. Even in purple Washoe County, 2/3 of residents are worried about global warming, according to the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication survey. Today, nearly 40 people provided public comment supporting climate action, citing risks (e.g. a close call with the Davis Fire last fall, hotter summers, more erratic snowfall, air quality concerns) and opportunities (e.g. lower energy costs, preserving local species, maintaining beautiful outdoor recreation areas, and avoiding exacerbated emergency costs in the future by taking action now). I am proud to have helped build a data-driven path to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in my local community, and I am grateful to be implementing the CAP in Year 2 of my FUSE Executive Fellowship.

    • Washoe County Commissioners adopt Climate Action Plan in a 4-1 vote.
