We work with local governments & communities to accelerate progress and inspire systemic change.
关于我们
FUSE is dedicated to freeing our country from the social and economic barriers to opportunities that have been perpetuated by a history of systemic and institutionalized racism. We partner with local governments and communities to more effectively address pressing challenges by placing experienced professionals in local government agencies. These FUSE Executive Fellows lead strategic projects that are designed to accelerate progress and advance racial equity. We are also dedicated to sharing the insights that emerge from our work to inspire all civic leaders to think and act differently in their efforts to achieve systemic change. Our work focuses on issues such as affordable housing and homelessness; workforce training and living-wage jobs; pandemic response and health equity; education reform and digital access; public safety and justice reform; climate resilience and green infrastructure; and more. FUSE has worked on over 250 projects in 42 cities and counties across 18 states serving a combined population of 25 million people. The majority of our alumni continue to work in civic leadership and nearly all our government partners return each year with requests for additional projects.

I'm thinking of everyone impacted by "worst case scenario" flooding in Western NC and those near Conyers, GA, who evacuated or sheltered in place when a fire and large plume of smoke with chlorine gas erupted from a local chemical plant. Over 220 people have lost their lives due to the hurricane, and Georgia officials are still determining health impacts related to the hazardous air quality. With packed news cycles about the presidential election and global affairs, it can be tempting to scroll past these devasting stories. But it's important to understand the events and support these communities because there are no guaranteed "climate havens" from extreme weather, and acute environmental safety crises can happen anywhere. In short, we need to do all the things: respond competently to emergencies, lead compassionate recovery efforts, adapt to changing environmental conditions, and--importantly--work to prevent events like this from happening in the future. #sustainability #mitigation #climate #ehs Photos: Old Marshall Jail Hotel; Rockdale County

This month, we honor the incredible Rita Moreno, a trailblazer in the entertainment industry and the first Latina to win an Oscar. Her groundbreaking career spans over seven decades and showcases her immense talent as an actress, dancer, and singer. Moreno has dazzled us on screen and has been a fierce advocate for Latinx representation in Hollywood, passionately emphasizing the need for unity within the community. In 1963, she marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a moment that ignited her lifelong commitment to fighting for equality and justice. As we celebrate her legacy, remember Moreno’s powerful message: hope and resilience are in our DNA. Let’s continue to uplift each other and amplify our voices! #HispanicLatinxHeritageMonth #RitaMoreno #LatinxPride #RepresentationMatters

In September, the FUSE Spring 2024 cohort gathered for its Mid-Year Retreat in Los Angeles, CA where Year 1 and Year 2 Executive Fellows had the chance to meet and reconnect in person. The Mid-Year Retreat happens six months from the start of FUSE Executive Fellows' projects and is aimed to reenergize and remind fellows of their "why", innovate and build community with one another, and provide support to develop sustainable projects. We continue to be blown away by the work FUSE Executive Fellows do in the communities they are embedded in. We look forward to the impact they will make in the rest of their FUSE Fellowship and beyond! #FUSES24

SOMETHING IS IN THE AIR…and its toxic for many of the mostly black and brown residents of Rockdale and surrounding Atlanta metro counties. A major chemical plant explosion and hazzourdoes waste spill is impacting health and lives of residents who have been forced to shelter in place with very little answers. Watch as Henry "Hank" Johnson, Jr. Daniel Blackman Devin Barrington-Ward address the media at the state capitol of Georgia.

A #FUSEAlumniSuccess story! Before becoming a FUSE Executive Fellow in 2017, Sean D. Doss was a commercial real estate banking and asset management executive for 20 years. FUSE helped Doss transition to public service, and he has continued to do social impact work after his FUSE Fellowship ended in 2019, first as the senior program officer for the?County of Los Angeles’?California Community Foundation?and now as the director of business development with the?Nonprofit Finance Fund.
Building Strategic Partnerships for Social Impact, Community Development, Economic Mobility, and Philanthropy Investment
Seven years ago on this day, I embarked on a journey in Los Angeles to driving systems change with the intent of improving every indicator of well-being (health, housing, economic opportunity, education) for historically excluded and economically challenged communities through mission driven impact investments and nonprofit financings. I am still here! Big shout out to FUSE and the highly esteemed Executive Fellows of the 2017 cohort that facilitated my segue to the social impact sector and laid the groundwork for the path I would take thereafter.

Did you know you can extend your FUSE Fellowship beyond its first year? We have many fellows who are eager to continue doing the work in public service, so we work in collaboration with their host agency to secure an extension. We're thrilled to have Valerie Feinberg, AICP on board for another year!
"I want to live in a city where nature thrives along with urban growth," Mayor Deegan told the Jax Tree Commission. She urged the city to plant more trees to lower temps by up to 30', work we've prioritized in recent years. We're happy to do our part to create a cooler, more resilient Jax. ???????? https://ow.ly/VE7g50TtNRp City of Jacksonville
