关于我们
FUSE is dedicated to freeing our country from the social and economic barriers to opportunities that have been perpetuated by a history of systemic and institutionalized racism. We partner with local governments and communities to more effectively address pressing challenges by placing experienced professionals in local government agencies. These FUSE Executive Fellows lead strategic projects that are designed to accelerate progress and advance racial equity. We are also dedicated to sharing the insights that emerge from our work to inspire all civic leaders to think and act differently in their efforts to achieve systemic change. Our work focuses on issues such as affordable housing and homelessness; workforce training and living-wage jobs; pandemic response and health equity; education reform and digital access; public safety and justice reform; climate resilience and green infrastructure; and more. FUSE has worked on over 250 projects in 42 cities and counties across 18 states serving a combined population of 25 million people. The majority of our alumni continue to work in civic leadership and nearly all our government partners return each year with requests for additional projects.

Congratulations to FUSE Alum Clair Whitmer on her most recent appointment! Since her FUSE Fellowship ended in 2021, supporting economic resilience with the City of Fresno, Whitmer has been working with the?California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA), starting as its Northern California regional advisor. We are moved that Whitmer continues to support economic development and small businesses across all communities in California!
Thank you to Tara Lynn Gray for trusting me to an appointment as Deputy Director of CalOSBA…and for driving to Sacramento so you could administer the oath and make my swearing-in a perfect circle to my first day as Regional Advisor in 2021. I’m honored and humbled to serve the State of California as we enter a new era — no matter what —of American leadership. #calOSBA

Today marks the beginning of Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor and recognize the history, culture, and contributions of Native communities across the nation. Having had the privilege to visit various Native American Reservations, including my family's home on the Tono O'odham reservation in Southern Arizona, I've seen firsthand the unique challenges faced by these communities—particularly in transportation. As a FUSE Executive Fellow in the City of Hayward, where addressing climate change impacts on vulnerable populations is a high priority, promoting sustainable transportation options, such as E-bikes and pedal bikes, has been central to my role. Outreach, engagement, and education are essential pillars of this work, driven by cultural sensitivity that fosters genuine relationships with stakeholders. My lived experiences have equipped me to build trust and create impactful, community-focused programs that prioritize the needs of historically marginalized BIPOC communities and promote lasting change. I recently came across an impactful article titled "The Relationship Between Public Transportation and Economic Development in Native American Communities," which underscores a vital point: "Sustainability is an essential consideration when developing transportation options for Indigenous communities. Sustainable transportation options, such as electric vehicles and bike-sharing programs, can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality. Additionally, sustainable transportation options can reduce dependence on fossil fuels, which can be costly and harmful to the environment." With an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science and an MBA in Sustainability from Presidio Graduate School, I'm proud to apply my knowledge to advancing equity in sustainable transportation. It’s about fostering economic development, creating opportunities, and building healthier, self-sufficient communities. This Native American Heritage Month, let’s commit to solutions that uplift Indigenous communities and honor their enduring relationship with the land. #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth #Sustainability #CulturalSensitivity #ClimateAction #CommunityEmpowerment #TransportationEquity #ActiveTransportion #EquitableOutreach #CommunityEngagment https://lnkd.in/gAdUQCxk

Congratulations to FUSE Alum Angeline F. Johnson, BA, MPL, MPA (2019—20) on this amazing feat! Addressing homelessness is a nuanced and multi-layered issue many cities and counties are grappling with across the nation. This documentary tells the stories of the unhoused individuals in Wichita and how the City of Wichita, through its innovation and partnerships, is bringing Wichita a step closer to finding effective solutions to the homelessness crisis.
With over 25 years of professional experience, I am a committed professional that believes in doing “THE WORK” necessary to improve the communities in which I work.
Moment of Vulnerability... #surreal When you show up EVERY DAY to do "THE WORK"...Not for personal gain or accolades, but for simply doing your part, as a member of society, to make a real and positive difference in lives of others... Scenarios like THIS seems unreal to me. But it has been very real over these past 3 days. Spent this morning at the "encore" Tallgrass Film Association 2024 Film Festival presentation of the film I "produced" in partnership with an INCREDIBLE team, entitled "Hope in the Heartland: Wichita's Quest to End Homelessness." This film came from an idea I presented to a client that has now manifested to an actual film for public viewing! Wow! Captured this pic today of a point of the film that I speak about the work of this community as I both see and have experienced it. I am SO THANKFUL for the opportunity to tell and share the real world, still unfolding story of addressing homelessness in the greater Wichita community. Our film is available to ANYONE to watch online here: https://lnkd.in/eT2gMW6j Should you feel so inclined, do check out our film. Your thoughts and feedback are sincerely welcomed! #Thankful #Surreal #Community #WORKHardPlayHardSERVEHardLoveHard
