CONGRATULATIONS to Alison Paul, who has been our excellent and talented Grant Writer and development consultant since 2011, and has secured hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants for Furniture Sharehouse over the years. Alison was honored with the Peter J. Gallagher Award for Leadership and Service by the Association of Development Officials at their 2025 Philanthropy Breakfast on March 12th. In addition to celebrating and honoring Alison, I was able to catch up with so many Furniture Sharehouse BFFs who were also in attendance. It was a wonderful celebration of hard work and amazing accomplishments by all the honorees, their grant-writers and the organizations they work with. Earlier in 2024, a brand-new 19-story apartment opened in New Rochelle that includes 136 units of affordable housing, with 77 units set aside for families in need of supportive services. Furniture Sharehouse is well on its way to furnishing all of these special units now happily occupied by clients from numerous member agencies. Since April 2024 to date, we have furnished 46 apartments in this building, and we are averaging 2-3 referrals for this building per week. This phenomenal statistic is the best example of how vital our service is to Westchester County’s neediest residents, and proof of the crucial role that Furniture Sharehouse plays in helping struggling individuals and families rebuild their lives.

We're happy to report that we will be starting 2025 with a BIG furniture donation! We are so grateful to the Yonkers-based Great Point Studios who pulled from their huge stock of movie set dressing and props at the Great Point Studios warehouse in Putnam County to make a very exciting and generous donation to Furniture Sharehouse. Volunteers from Great Point Studios working together with our delivery team of Dave and Daniel filled a truckload of donated furniture and a large assortment of household goods and accessories. The Great Point Staff helped assemble the donations and our crew packed it tight and secure for the trip back to our warehouse at the Westchester County Airport. It was a wonderful coordinated effort, our staffs working together to make the load-up a success and there will be many clients thrilled at the selection of items that they will find to choose from to fill their homes with comfort and hope. Sharing news- More homes furnished in 2024 as of today nd of September report than in 2023. Still more demand, more need. Please keep Furniture Sharehouse in mind when you are discarding gently used furniture. Donating your furniture keeps it out of the waste stream and gives it a second life in a home of need for free

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to BFF Bubba Fanelli, owner of United Stage Associates, for going out of his way to loan us a BEAUTIFUL GRAY VELVET pipe and drape background for our amazing $6 Million Vignette featured at our Milestones Celebration on Sept. 24th. In spite of it being a crazy busy week for him with all his business for the United Nations convocation, he made time to deliver and set up the beautiful drapery and look how it came out! Gorgeous, clean white sofa, right?? Not so much when it first arrived at our warehouse. But in stepped our friends at CClean, located in Chappaqua, NY. We called CClean for an emergency cleaning job -- this really nice white loveseat that had gotten very dirty in transport. Their technician spent two hours cleaning it to make it beautiful pro bono and we are so grateful. This sofa will be given to a client struggling with furniture poverty for free and it will fill their home with hope, dignity, style and comfort!!
