As January's "Train your dog month" comes to an end, it's important to understand the methods of the trainer you work with. Reward-based methods are the most humane way to encourage learning and is true for all animals, including humans. As dog trainers, we often get pushback on using treats as rewards, as they may be considered "bribes". Think about it this way- would you get out of bed at 6am every morning to go to work if you weren't earning a paycheck? The key to using treats in your training process is understanding when the best time is to introduce them and the right time to fade them out. Some behaviors are so complex they require intermittent reinforcement continuously, to maintain success. This article provides more explanation by a highly respected organization in the industry. ??Confidence Building classes are a great way to learn how to empower your dog to achieve independent success and give them a proactive sense of their world. - is your dog timid of new things/experiences? - is your dog afraid of the car, novel or moving objects? - is your dog uncomfortable with putting on a harness? - does your dog feel a loss of control over their environment? If you answered yes to any of the above, this is the perfect class for you. Learn more on our website: https://lnkd.in/ddWuZjSB
