COLE in partnership with Duke Alumni Engagement, curated our first Duke-COLE European Forum in London on March 7. Hosted at Bloomberg’s European Headquarters, this intimate, invitation-only gathering, according to participants, was an interesting, thought-provoking, engaging and educational session on the topic of "Rethinking Power, Cultivating Influence". “It was so refreshing to shift the conversation of today where Power is talked about mainly in terms of top down driving efficiency, to a more sustainable Power to empower others.” Some of the 40 leaders who participated included Duke University alumni such as Viscount Rothermere (CEO of Daily Mail), Rebecca (Bex) Smith, (Duke soccer champ and former captain of the New Zealand soccer team), Ade Hassan, MBE, founder of Nubian Skin, partners of finance firms, and new friends of Duke such as the CEO of the largest global chemical supply chain, the chief communications officer of BT and founder of the new UK-Saudi basketball league. Stay tuned for more participant takeaways from the discussions facilitated by Sanyin Siang, COLE executive director. #RethinkPower #CultivateInfluence #Leadership

Sharing some takeaways from the keynote session: ?? Create spaces for others to innovate. Innovation needs a safe space for curiosity. ?? Innovation is a skill, shaped by our individual strengths. ?? Your passions, hobbies and interests are not distractions; they fuel most innovative breakthroughs. They drive success. ?? We are the sum of everything we love and learn along the way. How can you help create spaces that support innovation? Share in the comments below. The conference was presented by the Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business' Association of Women In Business (AWIB) and Coach K Center on Leadership and Ethics (COLE). Researcher, Writer, Speaker — ?? about how people achieve really big things. People and organizations hire me when they need a speaker or consultant who will translate research, stories, and best practices into action.
Cool. ?? Got a little emotional reading the survey feedback from the 2025 Investing in Women Conference. (You can tell I was excited to read it — I didn’t even take my coat off ??.) I was recording a reaction video when Matthew Glova, CFP? got home, so I got to share the news with him in real time too. The keynote, “Blueprints to #Innovation,” focuses on practical strategies for 1?? how we can be more #innovative and 2?? how #leaders can support a culture of innovation. It meant a lot to get to share my research with the Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business Association of Women in Business at this event, and it meant so much to read these reviews. ?? #event #speaker #professionalspeaker #keynote #conference #womenspeakers #professionaldevelopment #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #career #careerdevelopment #inspiration #motivation #letsdothis #yougotthis #womeninbusiness
