*New* 13 hour ACPE Accredited Functional Medicine Course for Pharmacists! ?????????? This course has been over a year in the making, and really, more like 6 years. The first time I attended an IFM event was AFMCP in 2018. I had the honor to meet Dr. Luby and Dr. Hanaway, and I excitedly told them that we had 500 pharmacists in a Facebook group that wanted to learn about functional medicine, but many of them either couldn’t afford to go through the full training, couldn’t take time off work to travel for the training, and/or couldn’t justify spending this much time on a training that wouldn’t earn them pharmacist CE credits. 1?? That conversation led to our Organizational Membership with IFM which grants FMPhA members exclusive discounts to AFMCP and the APMs, which tackled the first barrier. 2?? The pandemic forced everyone to pivot to virtual training, which helped overcome the second barrier. 3?? And our partners over at FxMedCE started creating CE content for pharmacists on a variety of clinical topics, which bridged the gap for the third barrier. “I really want APhA to feel like coming home” is what Michael Hogue told me and Sa’ed Al-Olimat, PharmD tonight when I stopped him to thank him for such an awesome conference on our way out. Coming back first the first time after 5 years away, that’s exactly how it felt. Like Home ???? This was such a beautiful moment to close out #APhA2024, with each of us sharing about the respective organizations we founded, and asking the question “how can we collaborate together?” There’s some significant changes on the ballot for APhA’s structure to tear down the old silos of practice vs science vs student… and instead form communities where we can all co-mingle and collaborate on shared interests, including functional medicine. ?? (Shout out to Dr. Brigette Serfaty, PharmD who Michael mentioned is one of the driving forces for this particular community! So sad I missed you!) It’s a great time to get back involved in the organization and be part of the forward momentum! I will most definitely be at APhA2025 in Nashville! ??
