Celebrating a Milestone for Healthcare and Economic Growth in Reading! This past Friday, March 14, we celebrated the grand opening of the Reading Community Medical Campus—a transformational project that brings expanded healthcare services, workforce training, and economic revitalization to downtown Reading. Thanks to our allocation of New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC), this redevelopment of the former Community General Hospital will be a state-of-the-art medical facility, ensuring thousands of residents will be within walking distance of: ? State-of-the-art pediatrics, women's health, behavioral health, urgent care, pharmacy, and other healthcare facilities ? Hundreds of new and retained jobs ? On-site childcare for 150 children, operating from 6 AM to midnight ? Workforce training to enter high paying nurse and healthcare professions We were honored to be joined by State Senator Judy Schwank , State Representative Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz, Mayor Eddie Moran, Alan Shuman (Shuman Development Group), Berks County Commissioner Christian Leinbach, and Reading City Council President Donna Reed, all of whom underscored the lasting impact of this project on Reading's future.
