Please welcome our new Clinical Director, Allie Haydon! We are so excited for her clinical and leadership expertise, and lovingly direct approach, in joining our team. Allie graduated from Texas A&M University in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Literature. She taught 7th grade English for one year before realizing that the part of the day she really loved was talking to the kids before and after school about their lives. She decided to get her Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor certification and began working in non-profit agencies with young people and their families recovering from drug and alcohol abuse. She later realized she wanted to help people with more than just substance use and received a Master's degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2016 for Marriage and Family Therapy. As a young person who has had to work through her fair share of issues, she has taken these lessons, learned from them, and created avenues to helping other young women learn and grow from their struggles. She takes a strengths-based approach with both clients and staff, empowering them to utilize their natural talents and align with their values to create meaningful, rich, fulfilling lives. She finds fulfillment today by riding horses, working out, going to comedy shows with her husband, and reading.
关于我们
Fulshear Treatment to Transition is a program just outside of Houston for young adult women ages 18-24 with mental health struggles such as anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and trauma. Our young women typically struggle within relationships as well. They start out on our Ranch, where they are able to do the deeper work in a structured, relational, and therapeutic environment. From there, they move over to the Transition part of the program, where they will live in apartments with other Fulshear clients. Our Transition clients continue to work with the same team as when they were at the Ranch as they participate in programming each morning, as well as tailoring their afternoons with productive time involving work, school, and/or volunteering. The goal is for the young adult women to become healthy, strong, and influential in their lives and with their families. If you are interested in working at Fulshear, please view our current job openings at: https://fulsheartransition.applicantpro.com/jobs/.

After a tough few days of no power at the ranch from the hurricane (but it’s back on now - yay!), most of our ranch clients went to an Airbnb in Austin for the weekend to get some well-deserved air conditioning, respite, and fun! A text from our clinical director, Dana, from the Airbnb: “Last night one of the clients mentioned that they all deserve tree tokens for how they handled this week - so, during lunch I ran to my car and made ‘hurricane tokens.’ We just did a group celebrating everyone.” Creating connection in moments like this in the midst of hurricane recovery is amazing, and we’re so grateful for our committed team and resilient clients! #FulshearStrong #IAMFulshear #createjoy #healgenerations Allyson Smith Della Posner Helaine Sandler

Hyperindependence can be difficult for young adults accustomed to relying solely on themselves. “Hyperindependence refers to a state where young adults exhibit excessive self-reliance and a reluctance to seek support or connection from others. This phenomenon often stems from past traumatic experiences, where young adults develop a heightened need for control and distance themselves from others as a coping mechanism.” Fulshear’s Cara Mularski shares great knowledge regarding the causes, the signs, and how to help overcome hyper independence amongst young adults. #fulshearstrong #iamfulshear #createjoy #healgenerations #mentalhealtj #attachment #youngadult
