It's easy to think that more features = more engagement. Feature optionality in early-stage product development is a trap . . . dare I say even a death trap. Focusing on doing one thing well to crystallize your value proposition is a stronger move. Consider everything else bloat that has a high potential to compromise long-term retention or at a minimum, engagement QUALITY. Conservatively estimate, for every 1% of value you add, 10% of value is subtracted for any non-valuable features because they either: 1. Add friction and delay accomplishing a core Job-to-Be Done 2. Confuse the value proposition 3. Degrade quality and compromise user trust
