The Fulbright Association extends the Fulbright international exchange into a lifelong experience for U.S. alumni. We connect alumni and friends of the Fulbright program through lifelong learning, collaborative networking, and service projects at home and abroad. The mission of the Fulbright Association is to advocate for the Fulbright Program and promote international education. Our vision is a world where international exchange is widely recognized as a force for peace. Established on February 27, 1977, the Fulbright Association is the official U.S. alumni organization of the Fulbright Program, representing 140,000 U.S. alumni – 70 years of Fulbrighters since the program’s inception – and friends of international education. We support a thriving alumni community that helps increase visibility for the Fulbright effect and helps preserve Fulbright exchanges for future generations. Through our 50 local chapters, the Fulbright Association hosts more than 230 regional and national programs each year for visiting Fulbrighters and alumni throughout the United States. Programs include educational events, career development seminars, music and art presentations, networking events, volunteer activities, and more.

  • Chai Chats in Pittsburgh was held for Fulbrighters to and from India (both current and alumni) to meet in person, giving space to facilitate deep conversation, and provide an avenue to build long-term collaborations. True to the spirit of Fulbright, the event fostered a shared appreciation for the diversity of India, with participants exchanging stories and reflections from their time there.

  • On February 1st, Pongal Sangamam, organized by the Fulbright Alumni for the India Interest Group and Greater Pittsburgh Chapter, introduced individuals to Tamil language and culture to foster stronger connections within the Tamil community, as well as with those outside of it. Among the highlights were the artistic performances, traditional dances, live painting sessions, writing names in Tamil, and a photo booth. A traditional, authentic, and festive Tamil-style dinner allowed attendees to experience the authentic flavors of traditional Tamil cuisine. Photography by Salin Simsek & Nick Scmidt

  • The Minnesota Chapter kicked off 2025 with an important service event in partnership with Feed My Starving Children. This non-profit organization mobilizes volunteers to pack nutritious meals for global distribution to combat hunger. Afterward, they gathered for lunch at the VP's home to enjoy Persian-inspired cuisine.

  • The Fulbright India Interest Group hosted an event about the Indian art of inlaying silver and/or gold into steel called Koftgari. The guest presenter showcased the many daggers and knives he has produced over the course of his apprenticeship with masters, slowly advancing his skills in making intricate designs inlaying gold on handles of the different weapons.
