Our Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, Patrícia Colombo, CCEP, CHC, MBA, LPEC, delivered a rousing panel with a unique take on today’s compliance issues; she and her colleagues discussed the ancient wisdom of Sun Tzu’s The Art of War! Equipped with proverbs from the Chinese military strategist, the panelists wove connections that applied to modern due diligence and assessing business partnerships. Congratulations Patricia on a well-received presentation.
Last month, I had the incredible opportunity to speak at the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) 23rd Compliance and Ethics Institute in Grapevine, Texas—an event that brings together the biggest and brightest minds in compliance. Alongside my fantastic colleagues, Emanuel Batista, MBA, CRCMP @Emanuel and Patricia Marinho, LL.M., CRCP, we explored something a little different: the ancient wisdom of Sun Tzu’s The Art of War and how its strategies apply to today’s compliance challenges, especially around due diligence and assessing business partnerships. It was an amazing conversation with the audience, diving into how these centuries-old lessons still resonate—whether it’s risk assessment, navigating complex partnerships, or tackling compliance head-on. We leaned into the idea that if you “know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.” By the end of our session, we all walked away feeling a little like generals ourselves—equipped with the strategies and foresight to approach compliance with a renewed sense of purpose. It was more than just a presentation; it was a chance to connect, share our experiences, and remind each other why we do this work: to build better companies and, ultimately, a better society where corruption, modern slavery, and money laundering have no place. #ItsAFujifilmThing #LifeAtFujifilm
