We’re gearing up to visit Mexico City for EXPOGRáFICA 2024, and what is expected to be the biggest edition of the show yet. We’ll be showing the FUJIFILM Mini 4300 Printbar System, a compact, high-speed system that is ideal for addressing, variable data images, labels, and serialization. It offers 1200 dpi production, with speeds up to 1800 fpm (548.6 m/m). The Mini 4300 can be integrated into an existing production system for monochrome variable data printing, or as part of a four-color system to bring dynamic color to variable data print projects. Logistics are part of every business. But figuring out logistics of refurbishing printbars is something no printer wants to spend time doing. In a recent piece on WhatTheyThink, writer Patrick Henry examined the possibilities of integrating offset and inkjet. It’s not a new concept, but Fujifilm has been making strides in building more efficient hybrid digital-offset presses. Part of that efficiency is requiring less maintenance. While legacy technology print systems are prone to ink buildup that lead to downtime for refurbishment, Fujifilm’s printbars, featuring FUJIFILM Samba drop-on-demand printheads, don’t require that down time. “That's a big advantage because if you've got those print bars, every so many prints you need to take them off, have them all cleaned out, parts replaced, basically disassembled and put back together again,” said our Steve Atherton. “You need to manage the logistics of it.” ? It’s about the data. Let’s run some numbers using a real-world example. One of our printbar systems has 12, 27-inch printbars. That would have 192 printheads with 393,216 nozzles that need jetting commands. To reach a print speed of 1,000 feet/minute, those nozzles will get more than 24 billion jetting commands processed and transferred each second. To provide some context, if those 12 printbars were showing movies instead of printing, they would be streaming the equivalent of 750 4K movies - at once.
