cientific Excellence in Action: Guiding a Bryde’s Whale Back to Safety At Fujairah Research Centre (FRC), we are committed to advancing marine conservation through research, innovation, and collaboration. Our recent participation in the successful rescue of a Bryde’s whale near the Port of Fujairah exemplifies this mission. The Fujairah Environment Authority, Fujairah Research Centre the Port of Fujairah, and The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, team of experts conducted extensive marine surveys and health assessments to ensure the whale’s safe return to its migration path. Through continuous monitoring, scientific analysis, and the use of advanced technology, we played a key role in safeguarding this extraordinary marine species. This operation is a testament to the strength of collaborative environmental stewardship. By documenting and studying such interventions, we contribute to the growing body of knowledge that will shape future conservation efforts. The Fujairah Environment Authority and the Fujairah Research Centre concluded their participation in the UAE Innovates Exhibition in Fujairah, which was organized by the Fujairah Government Excellence Program at the DoubleTree Hotel on February 19-20. The Environment Agency participated in its virtual project (Hulu Marine), which includes the virtual characters of Moza and Marjan and an interactive game for children to clean the seabed, in addition to the project (Enviro Meta), which includes two virtual museums of the terrestrial and marine environment of the Emirate of Fujairah, and participated in the smart container project that it recently launched in cooperation with one of the companies specialized in recycling, as the project aims to properly dispose of metal and plastic containers and replace them with points and incentive rewards that encourage the public to sort waste from the source and promote a culture of recycling Have. The Fujairah Research Center also participated in the palm map project, which is the first of its kind in the region to draw a map of all kinds of palm trees in the Emirate of Fujairah, using artificial intelligence technology and drones, and the center also reviewed the Flora application, which aims to build a digital database that documents all types of plants in the Emirate of Fujairah for educational awareness research purposes. The Environment Agency was honored as a strategic partner at the end of the exhibition, and we celebrated the ISO certificate in innovation management that was awarded to the Government of Fujairah, and honored our Chief Innovation Officer, and we witnessed many events during the two days of the exhibition. Honored to be featured in this incredible documentary, showcasing the groundbreaking work we accomplished aboard the OceanX research vessel! Bringing genomics to a research vessel was not just an idea—it was a vision that required collaboration, persistence, and the right expertise to become reality. Convincing OceanX and Zayed University, represented by Dr. Ada Natoli, that this mission was not only possible but essential was a challenge—but together, we made it happen. This remarkable collaboration between M42 Health, Space42, the EAD Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, and OceanX pushed the boundaries of marine science and environmental research. A special acknowledgment to Mr. Vaisakh M.D, whose dedication in the lab was instrumental in making this project a success.
