A decade ago, Senior Managing Director Robrecht Vandormael took a leap of faith by joining a firm that was still finding its footing in Brussels. Learn more about Robrecht’s journey with #TeamFTI: What initially drew you to FTI Consulting, and what has kept you here? Robrecht: Back in 2015, FTI Consulting was the new kid on the block in Brussels. It did not yet have a strong brand – but a big ambition to disrupt and become the market leader. That ambition – and the people behind it – drew me to the job. Still today, I am fortunate to be working alongside several people who I have worked with since my first day at the firm, both colleagues and clients. What is the biggest trend you are seeing in the payments industry? Robrecht: You can’t speak about a trend today without mentioning AI – and that’s no different for the payments sector. In particular, the importance of security, cyber and fraud management, embedded and connected solutions, optimization of the payments experience, etc. – all things that AI can play a huge role in. Beyond AI, I think we will continue to see further diversification of the payments landscape, with new and alternative ways of paying (often real-time), more and different devices (including connected devices), and more disruption due to (geo)politics and regulation. What is the best advice you’ve ever received? Robrecht: Make sure your timesheets are done on Friday. How do you unwind after a long day? Robrecht: In an ideal world, I love to go for a run after a long day of work. There is nothing more relaxing, better to clear my head and to put things into perspective than a run. In reality, however, my second job gets in the way of that run, and that is being a father of three. So my evenings are often occupied with taking care of my three daughters. That said, they always succeed in making me disconnect from work!

Congratulations to corporate reputation expert Elly DiLeonardi on 10 years with #TeamFTI! Read on to discover her favorite part about working at the firm, career advice and more. What is your favorite part about working at FTI Consulting??? Elly: Without a doubt, it is the team. I get to work with and learn from incredibly smart people who are true experts in their respective fields, and they have made me a better practitioner over the last 10 years. What is your biggest tip for companies when it comes to corporate reputation??? Elly: As someone who primarily consults B2B companies, it often takes a crisis or adverse event for leadership teams to prioritize reputation management. It’s a long game. A carefully crafted and targeted corporate reputation strategy not only mitigates risk but drives significant value for the business. What is one lesson you’ve learned during your career??? Elly: Never underestimate the power of a live conversation instead of an email.?? How do you spend your time outside of work??? Elly: I have 1.5-year-old twin daughters, so a lot of my time outside of work is spent with my family. I also love to travel and explore new places – although these days it is closer to home!

As a recent graduate, Brisbane-based Emma Toms feels fortunate to have great mentors at FTI Consulting. In this spotlight, she shares her perspective on Women’s History Month, her experience with #TeamFTI and more. What does Women’s History Month mean to you? Emma: At the end of 2024, I finished my bachelor's degree in politics, philosophy and economics, and it was evident that until relatively recently, the contributions of women to these fields were often unheard and undervalued. My hope is that Women's History Month serves as a time to celebrate these contributions and recognize the resilience of women in their uphill fight to be acknowledged as academically equal to their peers. Who is the most influential woman you know (or would like to know) and why? Emma: At the moment, the most influential women in the field of economics are Danielle Wood and Michelle Bullock. As the Chair of the Productivity Commission and Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia, respectively, they are highly influential female role models who are at the forefront of economic policy and analysis. I really value seeing the pathway to their current positions and their encouragement of female economists, which I think is particularly important within a male-dominated field. What is one lesson you’ve had to learn the hard way? Emma: Since I have just started working full-time, I'm learning a lot! Over the past two years of being an intern, I found myself occasionally overcommitting to too many projects (I never like saying no to an opportunity to work on something interesting). I definitely have learned how to have conversations to get clear expectations on my time and involvement. Why has FTI Consulting been a good place for you to start your career? Emma: I am very lucky to be part of a great team, all of whom have been extremely supportive of me in balancing my work and study commitments over the past two years. Robert Southern, John Dowell and Jeff Lassen have given me so many opportunities to learn about all aspects of economic and financial consulting, for which I am really grateful. I am also really lucky to have some great female mentors, including Sarah Cornell-Farrow and Lauren Retief, who have provided me with a lot of guidance. #WomensHistoryMonth
