2024 FTASA PRINT EXCELLENCE AWARDS: HONOURING THE BEST IN FLEXO PRINTING. Can you guess the color of the balls below? So many factors affect how we perceive colors, it's hard sometimes to trust your own eyes! Illumination, backing, metamerism, differences in individual color vision, sample size and shape, angle of observation, the observers age and visual acuity, and more. For example, the image below illustrates the impact of "surrounding colors". Believe it or not, all four balls have the same color! (don't believe it? Use a color picker tool or zoom in!) That's why today's modern printers increasingly use tools to help them reproduce and match colors more reliably than (even a trained) eye can.
