关于我们

WIMSE is a Living Learning Community (LLC) at Florida State University that is composed of undergraduate women pursuing STEM degrees. We are the only FSU LLC that extends past the students' first year! As an active member of our WIMSE Society, the students can partake in paid research, engage in service opportunities, participate in social events, and be a part of our Student Activities Council (SAC). WIMSE's primary goal is to support women in STEM degrees through a strong community with unique opportunities for all of our students.

As my undergraduate career comes to an end, I wanted to take the time to commemorate one of my most formative experiences: Women in Math, Science, and Engineering at FSU (WIMSE). WIMSE has provided me with countless opportunities for growth, leadership development, and connection. Beginning my freshman year, I became involved in our Student Activities Council (SAC) as a member of the Service Committee. From then on, I was given the opportunity to grow my passion for Service, from Service Committee member, to the Committee Chair. During my time with the Service Committee, my committee and I created new connections for WIMSE in the Tallahaseee community, provided outreach opportunities to fellow WIMSEs, and raised money for the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life. Last year, I knew that I wanted to further expand my role and channel my passion for WIMSE, and earned the privilege of becoming SAC Director. As the SAC Director I led my amazing team of committee chairs, as well as oversaw the WIMSE Society as a whole. I also served as a mentor for my fellow WIMSEs, perhaps one of favorite facets of the role. My never-ending thanks and gratitude to those who mentored me and believed in me along the way, including Susan Blessing, Kelly Dillon, Ph.D., Miranda Bradley, and Olivia Mason. Thank you WIMSE!

  • Last week, a record number of 40 undergraduate WIMSE students presented at our annual research symposium! These women participate in paid research as part of the Research Experience Program (REP), an exclusive program available only to WIMSE students. Their research varies across all STEM disciplines, including but not limited to engineering, environmental science, and neuroscience. Thank you to Dean Huckaba, the College of Arts & Sciences, and Ms. Lauren Todd for supporting WIMSE. They have helped expand our Research Experience Program and cultivate the growth and success of these young women in STEM.
