Learn what's coming in the next version of LEED! Ben Roush will be presenting at this year's Greenbuild International Conference & Expo - https://lnkd.in/ehUi2aZ ) on LEED v5 and decarbonization in the built environment. In the meantime, he has been staying busing talking about decarbonization and building energy performance standards (BEPS) - which are in place in both Washington and Maryland, where our offices are located.
PE-ME, FPE, LEED AP BD+C, ASHRAE BEMP and BEAP, Certified Commissioning Professional, Principal at FSi engineers
It’s been an interesting few weeks on the Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) front. Two weeks ago I was on a panel (and last minute promoted to moderator) to talk about planning and implementation of electrification projects at the annual Maryland Clean Energy Center (Maryland Clean Energy Center) conference. Last week I spoke along with representatives from MDE on BEPS for the Maryland Society of Professional Engineers yearly conference (Maryland Society of Professional Engineers). Yesterday was particularly exciting, speaking at the Public Service Comission (who regulates utility companies in Maryland) in favor of expanding Empower utility incentives for decarbonization measures, and that those incentives should specifically not include new fossil fuel equipment. These incentives will be a massive help to fund BEPS based electrification in existing buildings. I’ll be speaking on a panel at Greenbuild in a few weeks on LEED v5 and decarbonization, as the vice chair of the energy and atmosphere technical advisory committee. Hope to see you there.

#Community is one of our core values. Last week we put together 100+ lunches and distributed them out to our neighbors around Pioneer Square. We had a great time meeting and chatting with some nice folks - and petting some very good dogs.

We are thrilled to announce the addition of Deneise Kopetzky to FSi Engineers as our first-ever Business Development Director! Deneise brings 18 years of business development and marketing experience in the AEC industry. Her love of the built environment and enthusiasm for meeting and working with a wide range of people make Deneise a natural fit in the industry. With her personal values of authenticity, integrity, and community involvement, she is a perfect fit for FSi. When she’s not in the office or at industry events, Deneise enjoys anything outdoors – hiking, camping, boating, and generally taking in the beauty of our environment. Her love of travel has taken her through much of the US and she recently took her first trip to Europe. As a lifelong Washingtonian, she remains convinced we live in the most beautiful state in the country. Deneise looks forward to diving into FSi’s culture and to helping us further define the BD Director role. “I have a passion for building authentic relationships and connecting people and firms. I love bringing people together to form the perfect team for a pursuit. I am excited to be at FSi, building on my years of experience and bringing my commitment to this industry and its people.” Welcome to FSi, Deneise!

Congratulations, NBBJ Design! It was an honor to work with you on this project - which just happens to be a block from our Seattle office!
We’re proud to announce that Seattle’s ferry terminal, Colman Dock, wins an AIA Washington Council Civic Design Honor Award, the Council’s highest recognition! The award celebrates design excellence in publicly funded projects, reflecting the highest standards of sustainability, innovation and building performance. ? ? A “beacon” of the community, the design of Colman Dock is based on a lantern, serving as a literal link between communities. The project’s entry building, retail and public spaces, and elevated walkway reimagine the flagship transportation hub as an engaging pedestrian experience. The terminal building features passive heating and cooling features that minimize energy use, including a large roof for shading, operable windows, and skylights.?Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gP5gaxUv?and here https://lnkd.in/gzgzva5q #aia #civic #award #honoraward #ferry #seattle #nbbjdesign

Team Draft, including FSi's Benjamin Gozart and Brent Quigley, raised $5,116 as part of Bike MS. Overall the event raised nearly $1.5M to support MS research and services for people living with MS. They rode from Mt Vernon, getting a great view of the nearly-completed Mount Vernon Library Commons (shout out to HKP Architects and the entire project team), to Deception Pass. Way to support our community, Team Draft!

Join us in congratulating Jennette Lee on her promotion to CFO of FSi Engineers. This promotion recognizes the pivotal role Jennette has played in FSi Engineers’ success over the past 17 years, and her role as a core member of the senior leadership team. Jennette began at FSi in 2007 in a temp-to-hire accounting role, growing into staff accountant, accounting manager, and controller roles over the years that followed. Throughout that time, she embraced opportunities to learn about all aspects of FSi’s business from developing a deep understanding of all aspects of accounting, client billing requirements, and forecasting, to HR laws and requirements and FSi’s engineering practices and core lines of business. She has also grown her expertise through formal education, completing a BS in accounting and earning Certified Management Accountant credentials while at FSi. Jennette’s quest for growth and learning continues and she is currently working towards an MBA degree. Jennette has been committed to FSi since she began working at the company. In 2011, she told now-retired principal Rob Danforth that she had a goal of being FSi’s CFO one day. The company was just 15 people at the time, but Rob always encouraged her growth and professional development, seeking her opinion and going out of his way to involve her in all aspects of the business from site visits to project kick-off meetings. FSi is proud to carry on Rob’s tradition of supporting all our staff in their professional growth. It is core to our company values and vision to create an environment for staff “learning, development, and growth into new roles and responsibilities.” For her part, Jennette, has embraced this with her team and FSi as a whole, mentoring and encouraging everyone to learn new skills and take on added responsibilities. Congratulations, Jennette!
