National History Day (NHD) and?Carpenters’ Hall announced the second-ever?Young People’s Continental Congress (YPCC), which will again be held in Philadelphia this upcoming July. Executive Director Rebecca Brown Asmo and Board Members Sarah Sisser and Brodi Conover traveled to Washington, D.C., last week for Humanities on the Hill with the Federation of State Humanities Councils! ? Thank you to Congressman Bob Latta, Congressional Humanities Caucus Co-Chair Michael Carey and his staff, and the rest of the Ohio delegation for taking the time to learn about our work and discuss how funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities is activated in all 15 of Ohio’s Congressional districts.

This past week, members of our staff and board traveled to Washington D.C., to participate in the annual Humanities on the Hill advocacy event. #SCHumanities is grateful to our Senators, Representatives, and their staff members for meeting with us to learn more about our impact in each district. We're always proud to tell our story, share about the great work we're doing in South Carolina, and see colleagues on the hill. We even got the chance to see two of our Congressmen this visit! Huge thanks to Congressman Clyburn and Congressman Wilson for taking some time to chat with us. Thank you to the Federation of State Humanities Councils for organizing this event and the National Endowment for the Humanities for its support and partnership! #HumanitiesontheHill #washingtondc #HumanitiesforAll??

This week, members of our staff and board traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in the annual Humanities on the Hill advocacy event. Georgia Humanities is so grateful to our Senators, Representatives, and their staff members for meeting with our team and learning more about our statewide impact. We're always proud to share how funding for the humanities makes a real difference in the lives of Georgians—by preserving our state's stories, supporting our schools, strengthening local economies, and bringing communities together. Thank you to the Federation of State Humanities Councils for organizing this incredible event and the National Endowment for the Humanities for its partnership with the states!

Our visit to Capitol Hill concluded with terrific meetings with the Offices of Rep. Mikie Sherrill, Rep. Nellie Pou, Rep. Tom Kean, Rep. Josh Gottheimer, Rep. Herb Conaway, MD, and Rep. LaMonica McIver. It's been very clear during our discussions with members of the entire NJ Congressional delegation that preserving our cultural heritage, examining our history, and using the power of the humanities to empower communities are values broadly held across the Garden State. Thank you to all of our Congressional representatives and senators who deliberately devoted time for the #humanities within their busy days!

What an incredible experience at Humanities on the Hill 2025 this year! Our dedicated board and staff had the opportunity to meet with our federal legislators in Washington, D.C., to share our work, research, and the profound impact of the humanities in their districts and across the state. We made our voices heard on the importance of supporting the National Endowment for the Humanities and the vital role it plays in communities. A huge thank you to the 15 legislative offices that met with us, and to the Federation of State Humanities Councils for organizing this critical advocacy event! Shout outs to: Christina Saler, John Orr, Laurie Zierer, Dawn Frisby Byers, Leslie Wilson, Phoebe Stein #HOTH2025

As part of my role as Chair of the Board of Directors for Kentucky Humanities, I had the opportunity this week to speak to many of our state's elected officials in DC to share Kentucky's story and to encourage them to continue their strong support for the amazing work we do. I learned so much about how DC runs (hint: staffers are super humans!), and I'm optimistic that our senators and representatives see how important this is for Kentuckians. ????
