We are thrilled about the recent addition in our Machine Shop of a new CNC lathe.?FSGroup is fortunate to have the only CNC machine of this caliber in the Southeast. Equipped with Y-axis motion, C-axis interpolation, and live tooling (allows milling, drilling, and tapping) our capabilities are greatly increased with this machine. Our Machine Shop Manager has been working closely with a technician from the manufacturer for on-site machine orientation and operator training.

It was an exciting day delivering a NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Propulsion Test Laboratory Mobile Data Unit fabricated by FSGroup to the Marshall Engineering Technicians and Trades Support (METTS) Hot Gas Facility. The Hot Gas Facility at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center creates a test environment, up to 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit, geared for making human space exploration safer. The Propulsion Test Laboratory Mobile Data Unit will house the Hot Gas Test Facility Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. The SCADA System will monitor and acquire measurements data at rates up to 200,000 samples per second while also controlling facility systems - propellant, pressures, and electrical.

These Shadow Boards are custom designed by FSGroup's Engineering Department to meet the parts specifications provided by the customer, then they are precision cut by the laser in stainless steel and pegs are welded to the board to hold the designated part. When a specific machine is dismantled in a plant for sanitation, each nut, spring, pin, etc. is hung in its corresponding spot on the Shadow Board so it can easily be reassembled for production.
