Last Friday, our team had the incredible opportunity to learn from Mel Ng and Ben Bright during a career night with Sandia National Laboratories! Both speakers were once Baja or Formula SAE members during their university years, making this a full-circle moment. Their insights and experiences reminded us of the countless opportunities available to FSAE students—whether in automotive, aerospace, or beyond. A huge thank you to Sandia National Laboratories for supporting the next generation of engineers!

Formula SAE Electric is a design and engineering challenge for university students designed and run by the Society of Automotive Engineers. The goal of the competition is to design and build an open-wheel, single-seat, electric racecar conforming to a stringent set of rules, which emphasize drivetrain innovation, safety, and energy efficiency in a high-performance application. Our team’s cost, design, and strategic positioning decisions are made to take into account the interests and requirements of a weekend autocross racer. These decisons are then presented to a panel of industry professionals in the business presentation.

This past weekend, our team had the honor of listening to Dr. J. Zhou, SAE Fellow, ASQ Fellow's lecture on the Reliability of Electric Vehicles. It was an insightful and educational lesson, especially fitting for the many aspiring vehicle engineers on our team. We are inspired and grateful for Dr. Zhou's enthusiasm and willingness to travel all the way from Detroit to lecture on a Saturday morning!
