Last week, while all eyes were on the presidential race, Prop 33 in California was rejected by nearly 60% of California voters. Prop 33 would have overturned certain portions of the existing state-level prohibition on rent control ordinances by local governments. It was an honor to receive the Louisville Bar Association’s Justice Martin E. Johnstone Special Recognition Award during this week’s award luncheon. To be recognized alongside such an accomplished group of past recipients, including one of the founding members of Frost Brown Todd, Judge Heyburn of Brown, Todd & Heyburn, is especially humbling. I want to thank the LBA for this special honor and for all the association does to connect, equip, and empower our local legal community. Justice Johnstone was a tremendous lawyer, jurist, and man.
