My #commentary on the sudden martial law whiplash in South Korea and what it means of the defensive trilateral defense cooperation between the United States, the ROK, and Japan. In brief rundown: analysts I have spoken with, as well as political commentators and officials whose views I researched have an instinct toward what I can only describe as an ominous shift in the dynamics that brought the trilateral agreement together. However, no one had, at the time of my commentary, officially made note of any defensive posturing shifts. To summarize the various views simply: outright upheaval and uncertain changes in typical process have been the only things we can clearly observe among all the interested parties of this alliance, at the time of this analysis. The common consensus that I could draw among my initial inquiry is that no one will be able to speak with any true conviction on the fallout until the " dust settles and the smoke clears" in South Korea's public, and respective United States and Japanese political administrative shifting policymakers have the collective chance to display new agendas in action. What we can observe so far is that two transition governments in both the United States and Japan are still taking a competitive approach to China, in a way that will likely see the two states respectively on the economic offensive, or at least more actively competitive, particularly in terms of the semiconductor race. These dynamic shifts in economics have potential to influence the Indo-Pacific challenge China poses to its neighbors, as this is an industry that China is a major contender and rival of the industry leading United States in, at present. The economic offensive of the U.S. and Japan, coupled with South Korea's anticipated disinterested shift under the presently assumed presidential handoff to the opposition, spell negative potential reflection on Taiwan's future as an entity benefiting from the U.S.-ROK-Japan trilateral agreement. Note, I am an independent journalist affiliated with Frontsight Media. The following commentary is my personal research on this topic and does not necessarily reflect the views of Frontsight.
