We are pleased to announce that our joint venture with Frontier-Kemper Constructors, Inc. has been awarded the $1.18 billion Manhattan Tunnel Project. A critical component of the Gateway Development Commission (GDC) program, the Manhattan Tunnel Project entails the design and construction of twin 30-foot diameter tunnels approximately 700 feet in length beneath the eastern shore of the Hudson River to existing cut-and-cover tunnels beneath Hudson Yards. The project requires complex tunneling to navigate sewer lines, protect utilities, and reinforce the Manhattan bulkhead to protect against flooding. Work is expected to begin in the spring of 2025, with substantial completion anticipated in 2029. Today GDC awarded the contract for the Manhattan Tunnel Project to Frontier-Kemper-Tutor-Perini JV. We have now awarded half of all the construction contracts for the HTP! The Manhattan Tunnel Project will build the section of the new HTP tubes from the Manhattan Bulkhead to the cut-and-cover Hudson Yards Concrete Casing east of 12th Avenue. It will also remove obstructions that could slow or damage the tunnel boring machines and will protect and support existing features, including the Bulkhead and sewer lines.
