?? This month, Team Fringe is all about the importance of relationship-building and the role curiosity plays in creating connections. We get it – being inquisitive without being intrusive is hard. Luckily, we have a few tips to help keep you in check without dampening your curiosity. ?? Follow the other person's lead. If they give a short or vague answer, it might be a sign that that topic is off-limits for them. ?? Stay away from hot-button issues if you are just getting to know someone. Diving deep into the latest controversial topic in an initial conversation can be off-putting. ?? Notice your assumptions. Our unconscious biases are telling our brains lots of stories about each other, and these assumptions often show up in our questions. Interrogate your questions, and notice if there are any assumptions built in. ?? Listen. To be a good listener, first remove any external distractions. Focus on the other person, not on your email notifications or to-do list. ?? Clarify. Miscommunication is all too common. Clarify your understanding of what the other person said and confirm with them that you're on the right track. Being curious is about opening doors, not pushing them open. Let's strive to build connections that are both meaningful and respectful. Read more about mindful curiosity in this month's blog! https://hubs.la/Q02PJlZB0 #ProfessionalDevelopment #RelationshipBuilding #Curiosity
