It is an immense honor to have been selected as one of the Alzheimer's Association? CDRI grant award recipients for first year of the program. This week we got to spend time with CDRI staff and other awardees to exchange ideas and offer support; it was amazing to be around such creative minds in the dementia respite space! Friendship Center’s awarded project, the Healthy Aging Hubs, will pilot in March as we open our first ‘Hub’ in Carpinteria. This hub will serve as a Carpinteria-centric (??????), arts focused (?????), dementia specialized day program that enables those in need of respite to stay in the community where they live amongst the people they love!
MBA Candidate | Associate Director, Center for Dementia Respite Innovation at Alzheimer's Association
Over the last few days, I had the privilege of hosting the Alzheimer's Association? Center For Dementia Respite Innovation’s first-year grant recipients at an inspiring conference filled with engaging sessions and hands-on technical assistance. Together, we worked to strengthen their new dementia-capable respite programs, ensuring these incredible initiatives continue to grow and support communities across the country. For more information on CDRI, visit alz.org/CDRI. Be on the lookout - year two applications will be opening soon!

The devastation caused by the fires throughout Los Angeles County has been heartbreaking, and our hearts are with everyone who has been impacted. As a community, we know all too well how challenging it can be to navigate the disruption and uncertainty that follow natural disasters. Friendship Center is here to offer support. Through our Emergency Respite Care Program, we are providing no-cost, short-term respite care for families who have temporarily relocated to the Central Coast due to the fires. ??
