Friendship Village resident Norm Harms is stepping back onto the field in a BIG way! At 96 years young, Norm threw out the ceremonial first pitch at San Francisco Giants Spring Training Opening Day! 76 years ago, Norm played shortstop in the New York Giants’ minor league system in the old Pioneer League. Today, he’s a proud 100% disabled U.S. Army veteran and a beloved resident of Friendship Village of Tempe. Norm isn’t celebrating alone—his wonderful wife of 67 years, Marilyn, his five children, and his extended family have all flown in to cheer him on and celebrate his 96th birthday! ???? Let’s give a huge round of applause to Norm Harms—a ballplayer, a veteran, and a true legend! ??? Welcome back to the field, shortstop.
