At Friendship Home, we do more than provide shelter—we provide essentials that empower survivors on their journey to safety and independence. One of our core services is ensuring that those receiving supportive services have access to daily necessities like toiletries, household items, and personal care products. Throughout the year, we rely on the generosity of individual donors, community events, and direct purchases to keep our shelves stocked with these much-needed items. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference in the lives of survivors rebuilding their futures. Want to help? Consider donating or organizing a supply drive to support survivors in need. Together, we can make a lasting impact! Learn more about how you can help by visiting our website: https://lnkd.in/gissnnvK

Empowering freedom from domestic violence
关于我们
Friendship Home exists to support, shelter and advocate for survivors of domestic violence and their children. Friendship Home Seeks To: Provide a continuum of safe, confidential shelter options—from emergency shelter through transitional shelter. Provide a rich array of crisis intervention services, case management, and emotional support to those we shelter as well as those who are waiting for shelter; helping them to rebuild their lives, free from fear. Address the many complexities and barriers associated with domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking on an individual level as well as a community systems level. Continue to reach out to survivors through individual advocacy, emergency case management, and support groups after they leave shelter, offering an environment where survivors feel welcome and are encouraged to share their stories and their wisdom with others.

This February, Friendship Home's Children's Advocates dedicated their time to preparing a special Valentine's Day event for the children staying with us. The kiddos created crafts, played Bingo, and enjoyed some delicious snacks! We are grateful to have such dedicated staff committed to creating special, long-lasting memories for the children.

At Friendship Home, we are heartbroken to hear of yet another life lost to domestic violence—the third domestic homicide in our state in a short time. These tragedies remind us why our work must continue. Survivors need support, advocacy, and safety; we are here to provide that. If you or someone you know needs shelter, resources, or someone to talk to, our crisis line is available 24/7 at 402-437-9302. You can also contact our partners, Voices of Hope and Lincoln Police Department Victim Assistance Unit. You are not alone—we are here to support you in the way that is best for you. Everyone deserves a home free from violence and fear. If you are outside our area, know that help is available across Nebraska. If someone in your life is experiencing domestic violence, your support matters. Listen to them. Believe them. Even if they are not ready to leave, your kindness and understanding can make all the difference. Domestic violence is not just a private issue—it’s a community issue. We all have a role in breaking the cycle. Learn, share resources, and stand with survivors. Together, we can create a future where safety and respect are the norm, not the exception. ??

Oh, the places we go... At Friendship Home, we have been dedicated to the continued education of our staff. We are proud to share that multiple staff members have had the amazing opportunity to travel to different states to attend conferences and seminars. The connections made and the knowledge shared make a huge difference in how we continue to serve survivors of domestic violence. We are grateful to attend these monumental conferences and cannot wait to see what this year brings! Here are a few of the places we went to in 2024:

For over 45 years, Friendship Home has been providing advocacy and shelter to individuals experiencing domestic violence. Friendship Home’s mission is to support, shelter and advocate for survivors of domestic violence and their children. We are dedicated to addressing the complexities of interpersonal violence at an individual and community level. In fact, over the last 10 years, we have nearly doubled our services. While we dream of a day when our services are no longer needed, we consider it a privilege to be able to provide safe futures for adults and children. https://lnkd.in/gmZNysKE
